Snow Days

Talking about Tagalongs ~
Me: Those are my favorite!
D: If it didn't have the peanut butter between the chocolate and the crunchy part, it would be even gooder!
Me: But that's the best part!
Dad: He's not your child.
J: But I am C's child!
Us: Uhm... Uhm...

J: Mom, if you were gone, I would miss you! (starts getting teary)
Me: Buddy, I'm not going anywhere, so you don't have to worry.
J: I know, it's just that every time I say that my eyes get all sad. 💔

(2/10) Lazy day for the kiddos and me.  Dad had to go in to work, and the third round of snow started up after he got home. My office, as well as the boys' school cancelled already for tomorrow.  I love snow, but I also love when it goes after having stayed too long!

(2/11) Another snow day for the kiddos.  I normally work from home on Mondays, and that's what I did again today.  Seattle broke a 70 year old record with the snow here.  Craziness!  The boys video-gamed the day away while I worked. Dad was the only one of us that left the house, and that was so he could go to work.

(2/12) And yet another snow day.  I worked from home again, and Dad dug the SUV out enough to go in.  We had a bit of rain/snow mix today, which tamped things down a little, but it's still nasty out.  Sarah took J sledding with her crew this morning, and they had lots of fun.  And I managed to sneak out long enough to trek to Starbucks with her for a cup of sanity this afternoon.

(2/13) Guess what?  Yep, another snow day!  The kids and I bummed around home for yet another day.  They're finally going back tomorrow, so I went out to get Valentine's stuff for their classes, and Dad brought home some treats for us.

(2/14) Happy Valentine's Day!  The kids went back two hours late, and got to attend their parties.  I'm so glad!  I finally made it into work for the first time in a week, and had a busy day there.  I'll be working from home tomorrow though, since we'll be leaving as soon as I'm done.  We figured we'd escape the snow by going to more snow!

(2/15) I worked from home today, even though I've been home *a lot* over recent days. We travelled to Chelan for the weekend. It's a long drive, but worth it! We got in late, and I settled the twins in while Dad went to grab a few things from the market. And once the kiddos were in bed, us parents had some wine to kick off vacation!

(2/16) Dad fixed us a fancy breakfast this morning, and then D and I tromped around the grounds until the sledding area opened. Echo Valley was amazing for tubing! It would also be perfect for beginner ski and board. We opted for just tubing today. J and D built a base in a snow bank, and C and I trekked up the hill to do the slides. C and J both loved the fastest/bumpiest lane, while I preferred the slower. We never could coax D away from the snow bank. When we got back to the condo, the boys played some screen time and Dad and I snuck out to do some wine tasting. At the first place, they gave us coupons to the next, so we felt obligated to continue on. For dinner we all went to the Lake Chelan Brewery. We had some of the most delicious fish and chips there that I've ever had. We're acquiring a bunch of must visit places over here!

(2/17) Today we bummed around the condo for the morning, and went to lunch at Company Creek Pizza, with its old school arcade. Dad brought a huge stash of quarters from home; way more than we ever could go through.  When we got back, the twins got on their snow gear and went out to play, and C went for a swim.  I derped and forgot the twins' suits, but they had a lot of fun outside.  We watched AFV, and had popcorn and Girl Scout cookies for dessert this evening after a fun day.

(2/18) Home again, home again. Jiggety-jog.  We woke up early, and as is typical for us, were packed up and on the road by 8am.  This family does not laze around on the last morning. We came home, got unpacked, and I was working outside, when D came out with a geyser of a bloody nose.  It took forever to get stopped, so I phoned their doctor to see if I could bring him in.  We have a referral now to an ENT.  Poor buddy also has an ear infection.  I ran errands after that excitement, and finally we all made it back home for dinner.  Never a dull moment!

(2/19) Work day for Dad and me, and the boys had their last day of mid-winter break. They stayed home and video-gamed the day away, and Nanan came to see them this afternoon.  Work was crazy busy, as is the norm for Tuesdays.  I'm so ready for things to slow down!

(2/20) Day off for me, school for the boys, and work day for Dad. I worked in the boys' classes today ~ reading with the kids in D's class, and helping with math groups in J's.  D had an appointment after school, to which he grumpily went, with a few "I HATE YOU"s thrown in for good measure.  7 going on teenager right here! The rest of the evening went fine. God forbid we mess with screen time though.

(2/21) Busy work day for me. We held three trainings at work, and I cut loose after the last one.  The boys had school today, and Dad had the day off.  He went to the nursery today and has started planning out our spring planting. He picked up some sunflowers to start ~ I hope they do well in the super sunny bed!

(2/22) Sarah and I went walking this morning before work. It's still slick in spots, but I'm glad to have our routine back after so many snow days. Work was super busy again today. I started doing something this morning that would normally take me 10 mins at 8am, and finally clicked done at 4pm. That kind of busy! C had curling practice this evening,  and the twins and I had a very welcome lazy evening!

(2/23) Sarah and I hit the gym for Strong and Zumba this morning. We noodled our way home after that. Dad went junkyarding with some buddies, after fixing a flat on the teenager's car. They all went out to Bad Dog this afternoon, and had a great time. I visited the vampires today (gave blood),  and came home and vegged, while the boys played on screens.

(2/24) Day off for the boys and me.  I caught a walk to coffee with Sarah, and listened to a book, but didn't do a whole lot other than that. We kicked ourselves outside to play this afternoon at a neighborhood park.  The boys had a blast with the remaining snow out on the playground.  My "walking track" (basketball court) was still all covered.  Womp-womp.

(2/25) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys.  Today was the Mondayest Monday that ever Mondayed.  Here's to a better Tuesday!

Snowpocalypse!

(1/26) Sarah and I went to Zumba, and Dad took J to hockey practice. After they got home, we grabbed the pupper and headed for wine country! We had a great time, and visited several places. Noodle raced at the Silvertips game tonight, taking second in the first race and first in the second. The Tips smashed the competition, winning 9-1.  Crazy game!

(1/27) Work day for Dad and I was home with the boys.  J had a hockey game this morning, and I treated him to pancakes afterward. We had a pretty lazy day other than that. The boys played screens, and I finished a book and started another.

(1/28) Work day for Dad and me, and day off for the kiddos. They love teacher work days, and proceeded to rot their brains with video games while I worked upstairs. I was busy from the moment I turned on my computer til it was time to turn it off at 5pm. In a good way, but being "on" all day is exhausting.

(1/29) Work day for Dad and me, and poor D woke up feeling crummy. I really had to go in (since it was the second day of product launch), so Dad picked him up and took him to work where he got sicker, and they were subsequently kicked out. Ugh, so sorry guys! Work was a whirlwind with many meetings and presentations. Everything went really well today.  I was pleasantly surprised!

(1/30) Work day for Dad and day "off" for me. D was feeling much, much better today, and it was off to the races for us. I took the boys to school today, stayed to volunteer in D's class, grabbed the boys, collected C, and headed to the dentist. We went for lunch, then I dropped them back at school, where I returned an hour later to work in J's class.  Then on to D's appointment.  And finally home.  Shew!

(1/31) Work day for me, and day off for Dad.  D and I were both grumping about what we needed to do today.  He had music (which he hates), and I had to go to present to a group in Seattle.  D's day went amazing, and my presentation and webinar went well too.  Huzzah!

(2/1) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the kiddos today. I had a busy day at work, and was more than willing to take a break for office happy hour.  The big boss seems happy with how things are going with our product launch, and I'm very pleased about that!  I got home and vegged out, the twins played video games, and C and Dad went to curling practice. Dad went out with some friends afterward, and when I went out to use the treadmill, I discovered our water heater had sprung a leak. We're at the 13-15 year mark where everything starts to break.  ARGH.  Thankfully, I caught it early, and we'll get it repaired tomorrow hopefully.

(2/2) Groundhog's Day!  Looks like an early spring is on the way.  So naturally we're expecting snow this weekend.  We'll see about that.  Sarah and I went to Zumba this morning, and then I went up to Nanan's house to see if I could get her back in the land of the online.  Mission successful.  Dad made us bourbon bacon mac & cheese tonight and it was delicious!

(2/3) We had our hot water tank replaced today. Dear house, that's enough already! The boys and I had a lazy day today, and Dad had to work.  It started snowing this afternoon, and everyone is hoping for a snow day tomorrow.  It's looking like they'll get their wish! As we are not football fans, we didn't watch the game, and opted instead for the Puppy Bowl this evening. We got to talking about the puppies getting new homes, and come bedtime, J burst into tears, and said he wasn't ready to leave yet, and didn't want to forget us.  Oh my heart. I reminded him he's only 7, and doesn't have to go anywhere for a good, long time.

(2/4) SNOW DAY! We got almost 8" overnight, and it is bitterly cold, so it isn't going anywhere soon. The boys were thrilled to have another pajama day.  I work from home on Mondays, so my commute was just fine.  Dad's was a bit treacherous, but he made it. Dad and C tried their hands at game hens tonight, and dinner was quite tasty. We then had movie night, selecting a couple of Jim Carrey classics (Bruce Almighty & Liar Liar) to show the boys.

(2/5) Another snow day! Dad made it in to work, and I worked remote from home, while the kiddos had another pajama day.  I managed to sneak out for a coffee walk with Sarah in the snow.  It's so beautiful out!

(2/6) The boys had a two hour late start today.  I walked with the twins to school, and stayed to volunteer in D's class.  I covered milk cartons in red paper to be mailboxes for their valentines next week.  So cute!  I went for lunch, and then came back to work in J's class. C and D had appointments after school, so we all trekked out in one car, having Dad drop us at D's, and then he went on to C's. We stopped to stock up on some necessities for the next big snow storm due to come in tomorrow.  It's looking like it could rival the one in '96, and could double what we already have.  Yikes!

(2/7) I finally made it in to work.  We hosted a training in-house, and conducted a webinar. Both went well, but man I'm fried after those. Dad had the day off, and got to ferry the kids to/from school.  They had another two hour late start today due to the conditions. Sounds like they had a good day, and we had a quiet evening in together after I finally got home.

(2/8) I worked from home today due to the impending SNOWPOCALYPSE.  The kids started school at normal time, and were off 75 minutes early for their normal Friday release. The snow started really coming down in the afternoon, and it snowed solidly until I went to sleep.

(2/9) We woke to about 5 new inches, and probably have 8" in spots where the snow was previously untouched.  The roads don't look too bad, so we'll probably go to the Silvertips game tonight. The boys and I met up with Sarah and took the kids sledding until they were frozen all the way through.
