All Fowled Up

(11/1) It's conference week which means a shortened school day for the twins all week. Sarah and I skipped our morning walk after walking all over the neighborhood last night. J renamed himself to "I got beets" for online class this morning ~ we're all still laughing about the can of beets he got last night as a trick.

(11/2) Whoop whoop! News came down that the kiddo vaccine has been approved. There's a light at the end of this very long tunnel after all! Today was meeting-heavy, but our holiday party at work has come together and I think it'll be fun! We're going to the Lantern Festival at the zoo -- so think no rain thoughts!

(11/3) I had the day off today and the twins had SBA testing (standardized testing) this morning. I expected it to take them a few hours so drove home to hang out. I got the call to pick them up a little over an hour later and they made it home in time to hear a chapter of a book they're really enjoying (Shiloh). I had the twins' conferences today as well as the re-upping of D's IEP. We're in frequent communication with the school anyway so nothing was unexpected.

(11/4) Today was a work and school day. I made crockpot lasagna and then taunted everyone with the smell until dinner. It's perfect for these fallish nights.

(11/5) Work and school for everybody today. Dad got his upgraded 5G microchip booster plus a flu shot so we should be good for everything now!

(11/6) Snoozy Saturday. I hung out and read my book this morning and eventually decided on making banana bread. I added chocolate chips and it was so good! We had a quiet day around the house and even J zonked out on the couch for a bit. The stinker was up late with this tablet though when I peeked in on my way to bed tonight. Good thing he gets an extra hour to sleep.

(11/7) Sarah and I decided to walk over to Starbucks this morning for a holiday drink. They aren't serving eggnog this year (harrumph!) so I came home and made my own. Dad and I went to a wine release at Category 5 this afternoon and checked out another place since we were nearby. It was nice to be out, even if it was soggy out. We capped off the evening with grilled cheese sammiches and soup.

(11/8) Even though we fell back, standard time still throws off my sleep schedule. Sarah and I met for our dark-thirty walk before work. There won't be even a hint of the sunrise for several months during our walk now. Blah. We all had work or school today and got to it soon after I got back.

(11/9) Today work day was meeting heavy so I went up and down the stairs either to make calls or monitor the twins' schooling.

(11/10) I had the day off today and scheduled my 5G booster shot as well as a Tetanus shot because I really know to party. The children are very *on* right now so I took my time getting home and spent a while in the parking lot with my book. I am hoping to have them back in person school next year and it cannot come soon enough.

(11/11) Happy Veterans Day! I took the day off since the kiddos were also off today. Sarah and I walked to the Bux and then wandered around in the drizzle for a bit. C took off to spend some time with friends and got caught in the monsoon later this afternoon. D, J, and I cooked lemon bars with Grandma over Zoom. That was fun! And I may have put up my Christmas lights. It's just so dark and dreary.

(11/12) Back to work and school for all of us today. It was a balmy 56° this morning on my early morning walk and we hear we're in for a few days of wind and wet. C went out to hang with friends this evening so it was just the twins and me at dinner. Definitely a different dynamic when it's just the three of us.

(11/13) We kicked our Saturday off by doing a whole lot of nothing. The kids video gamed and then a couple of them headed outside to play. We reconvened for dinner and then went to the hockey game. The Tips won 3-2!

(11/14) It's been crazy windy here for the last few days. I puttered around the back yard and had rock star hair when I came back in.  C went out to hang with his friends for a few hours and J made another raft out of woodsy items. Other than that, we hunkered down inside out of the weather.

(11/15) Work and school for us all today. We had quite the monsoon midday and the lights kept flickering, but never went out. Nanan lost her power for about six hours and just got it back when I had finished up reading to the twins so we called her to check in real quick.

(11/16) Meeting Tuesday was a busy one! At least the weather has calmed and the boys could go out to play, even if they were disappointed that I couldn't join them. This getting dark early business is for the birds.

(11/17) Brrr! I was a popsicle when I came back in from my walk today. I wrapped up in a blanket and promptly fell back to sleep. Fortunately, I had the day off so this wasn't a problem. I got up with the twins and prodded them through breakfast and getting logged into school. After school, J took me down to the creek to see his raft and the dock he built. He's so creative.

(11/18) Happy, happy day! The twins got their first covid shots ~ they were troopers! They were feeling pretty good this evening, even with sore arms. We're feeling relieved to have gotten one step closer to in-person schooling.

(11/19) Yay, it's finally Friday! I had coffee with my Friday group, got some work done, and then had happy hour with the rest of the staff. Aside from one fire to put out, it was a pretty quiet day.

(11/20) Dad took the boys for haircuts so I had a few hours to myself. I decided to pull out the Christmas boxes and we put up a few things, including the turkeys are prep for Thanksgiving. They kids are SO excited and have been updating everyone daily--sometimes hourly--as to how many days are left before Thanksgiving.

(11/21) We had a pretty lazy day around here. Dad made us breakfast to start off the day, and I ran a few errands while listening to my book. I had book club this afternoon with some friends and now have a new list of books to check out.

(11/22) Short week on tap this week! The kiddos and I only have two work and school days and then we're off for the Thanksgiving break. The boys had dentist appointments today, so I called them out of school early. When I picked up C, however, he wasn't feeling so hot. I called and rescheduled their appointments again and came home to rapid test C. The test had a faint line. Dammit. We scheduled him for a PCR tomorrow but are already preparing to cancel our trip to grands'. The boys are going to be crushed. They were so looking forward to it.

(11/23) Work and school for us all today (well, except C who is home until we get him tested). It was pouring out so I skipped my regular morning walk with Sarah and barely left my seat with all my meetings today. I ran C in for his test this afternoon--he's feeling fine and has the sniffles and a light cough. We might not get the results for 2-3 days though. I warned the twins today and they are so sad/mad. This sucks.

(11/24) Bad news. C's test came back positive. The twins are pissed and everything is ruined. I pulled the Christmas bins out and did a little decorating, but then D was upset because I didn't tell him. Oof. I said we could certainly do more and pulled out the stockings. I had to make a quick run out to Michael's for some lil display easels and picked up a gingerbread village for them to put together and help lighten the mood.

(11/25) Happy Thanksgiving! We're at home this year and feel like we managed to salvage the day. Dad found a turkey breast so we did that up with bacon bourbon noodles (a fam fave) and Brussels sprouts. We even had two kinds of pie this evening. It was weird not having hardly any leftovers.

(11/26) Sarah and I went for a walk this morning while Dad ran out for the ingredients to make chocolate waffles. They were so rich but so tasty! Dad also got us a tree today. I put the lights on and let D go to town decorating it. It's lovely! I went to the plant store to do some Black Friday shopping and then came home and futzed around with all my plants.

(11/27) We had a pretty low key day. We bummed around the house. The boys video gamed and I read my book. Dad, C, and I rented Free Guy tonight and got part way through before the power went off--argh! We'll have to finish tomorrow.

(11/28) We had a pretty lazy Sunday. The twins and I made scones for breakfast. So far we've made everything they wanted to make aside from the graham cracker crust. They love it plain and don't need any toppings. Ha! Dad, C, and I got to finish our movie tonight. It was so fun!

(11/29) Monday again. C is on his last day of quarantine and can return to school tomorrow. He's feeling just fine and thankfully didn't miss too many days. The twins were super grouchy about getting back into the swing of school and we argued allll day.

(11/30) Work and school for us all today. My work's website is getting a major overhaul next week so I spent the day pasting our new logo all over our materials.

(12/1) Crazy season, here we go! Dad and I are off today and are going to go to the hockey game tonight. An actual date night! Nice!
