Music & Lyrics

D (singing to the tune of The More We Get Together): The more we get to CHARGE!

Dad: And I'm gonna be sleeping on the couch tonight.
C: Can I do that with you?!

J: You need to stay at Amanda's house!
Me: I need to work today, buddy, sorry.
D: You can't work, it's Christmas!
Me: Christmas is over, kiddo.  And it's time for me to go back to work.

Me on Facebook: I may have just told my kid that we're leaving at the 4, knowing full well that the clock stopped yesterday.

J: Hello, I astronaut!
C: The reason Minion (ferret) can't talk is because he never ate a taco. Cuz tacos make you talk. And fart!

D: This is your nose. And this is your mouth. That's where the talking comes from. And also the be quiet.

J: Mom? You have a baby?
Me: You are my last baby.
J: I not a baby, I a twin!
Me: Right, you and DD are my twin babies.
....
J (pointing at my chest): Mama, see yous have two babies!

J: I need to sit on yours lap!
Me: Yours lap?
J: NO!  Mama's lap!

(12/19)  Hockey mom fail. We couldn't find D's elbow pads last week and had to buy him new ones. He had a horrible practice last week, and now I know why... I found his elbow pads IN his shorts. Oops. He had a much better practice today. D motored all around the perimeter and J did some practice standing.

(12/20) I planned to have a lazy day today, and mostly succeeded until the kids drove me to put on my gym clothes and take them into the out.  We got to the gym and the childcare was closed.  So, like the asshole parent I am, I took 3 sobbing boys to the park. We were there a whopping 5 minutes before D crashed and split open his upper lip/gums.  I took him to the bathroom to clean him up, but that was also closed.  So I rounded the boys back up so we could go to the car, and J started coughing so hard he threw up.  Seriously, this day.  We went home.

(12/21) Nanan's gift to the boys was a trip to Build-a-Bear.  JJ picked out a Star Wars bear with a Darth Vader costume, and Imperial March sound.  D choose a cream colored bear with a Paw Patrol costume, and a giggle for a sound.  C selected a Captain America bear and the Imperial March.  Nanan said that's a song that you can never get tired of.  I'll let you in on a little secret, I am after hearing it a zillion times. It was a fun experience though ~ I've never been there before.

(12/22) Today we went and made gingerbread cookies with Sarah, Laura, and their families. Such a lovely experience and it was so nice to catch up with friends we haven't seen in a while!

(12/23) Granddad came over to watch the boys today while I went to brunch with Grandma and Aunt Shannon. We rarely have time to just talk, so we squeezed in as much as we could.  We talked wedding plans and we're all very excited for Shannon!

(12/24) I met Sarah for a walk and coffee, and then some last minute shopping.  It never ends; holy cow.  This evening Dad made stuffed shells and we had Nanan over to join us.  We watched the Polar Express, opened gifts, and ate far too much.  And of course, the kids tracked Santa on his way over.

(12/25) Merry Christmas!  We woke the kiddos and headed over to Granddad's house to see what Santa brought.  The kiddos were spoiled this year.  C got a bike, a skate board, and the other big hit of the day was his own mp3 player.  The littles got playdoh galore, scooters, sleds, Hot Wheels, and so much more. I went up and grabbed the teenager for the day, and brought her back to join the chaos.  We had a big family dinner with cousins, spouses, and extended family.  I never can get the littles to stay at the table at these things, so when I asked them what they would eat, and they replied with "chips," so I served the traditional Christmas tortilla chips, and they sat with us for a good half hour.  Worked like a charm!

(12/26) No hockey today, so we all slept in.  I caught a Zumba class, and then Dad ran C out to replace the mp3 player that got broken yesterday. When they got back, I ran our teenager home, and then got cleaned up to go to the "kids dinner" hosted by Granddad and Grandma.  So fun ~ they've been doing this for years, and it's all the high school friends of my siblings that come back to hang out for an evening.

(12/27) Lazy Sunday.  Dad had to work, but the rest of us bummed around in our jammies and played with our Xmas toys.

(12/28) Work day for Dad and me.  It feels weird to be back!  The kiddos are with Amanda, and C has hockey this evening.

You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

J: This tastes like BUSTA LIME!

D: I'm not strong enough.
Me: You're not tall enough to reach.

D: I'm not big.  And Mom, you're old!
Me: And you're getting coal for Christmas.

C: MORE FIRE!!

(12/8) Work and school for all of us today.  I was going to attempt the gym, but completely missed my class with traffic being so horrible.  I gave up and just came home.  Dad had the oomph to go out Christmas shopping though.

(12/9) Ugh, this day.  The twins reset their clock and were up super early on my one day to sleep in. I managed to crack a filling somehow yesterday, so scrambled to get a dentist appointment for today.  The only day they could get me in this month was today, smack dab in the middle of preschool.  And of course it was my day to work in the classroom. I had to find a sub, see if Nanan could come watch the kiddos, and then had to pull the twins out of preschool early.  Thankfully, it all happened, and I was able to get to the dentist.

(12/10) Work day for me, and Dad had the kiddos.  C had hockey after school today and Dad got to wrangle the three at the rink.  Their pics came in though ~ super cute!

(12/11) Work day from home for me and Dad had the kiddos.  We've had a rental SUV for 24 days now while waiting for our truck to be repaired. We found out today that our rental allowance is almost up, and that the insurance for the party at fault might consider paying us back once we ponied up the dough... I figured since I was off for the next two weeks, we'd be fine returning the rental and going down to one vehicle.  I completely forgot about getting the kids to preschool and other events though.  'Cause I'm smart like that.  Dad went out with his buds this evening, and one of our most awesome friends will be lending us his rig for a bit.  Yay!

(12/12) Today certainly had its ups and downs.  The twins made great progress in hockey, and both got up on their skates!  C's game was moved to just after the twins' practice and I was excited to actually get to watch him.  However, a few minutes into the warm-up, I look over to see J's pants around his ankles, and a puddle on the floor.  He was too into his video games... and of course I didn't have a spare change of clothes with me.  So we went and hung out in the car while C played.  After his game, C went to a play at the Children's Theatre with Nanan, and the rest of us went home for lunch. It was my weekend to clean the preschool, so I scooted out for that. The weather was awful, which made commuting to other places loads of fun.

(12/13) Today was Santa picture day. We picked up the teenager and planned to go shopping after. My attempt at planning and organizing this day was disastrous.  C was miffed that we were shopping for other people and completely came unglued.  He took off on me a few times, and sulked for the picture.  I explained to him just from whom he got his stubborn streak, and we barely managed to turn the train around.  The rest of today outright sucked and I don't care to remember it, so am choosing not to write about it.

(12/14) I have most of this week off because I had too much vacation time. Thus, I scored a few hours to myself while all three kids were in school.  After I collected the twins, I brought them home for lunch, and we watched Home for the billionth time.  J likes to continually restart the movie because I don't think he enjoys the ending.  C had hockey this evening and had a really good practice!

(12/15) I went shopping while the littles were in class today. I am not done, but have a pretty decent start on things.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute!  After C got home, we took the kids out to dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse.  C was very enthusiastic about the FIRE, and though it scared the littles a bit, they really got into the show.

(12/16) Work day for Dad, and I worked in the twins' classroom.  Santa visited today, and the kids were SO excited!  All of the parents sent in books for Santa to give to the kids. D got Twas the Night Before Christmas, and J The Littlest Elf.

(12/17) Lazy morning for most of us.  C had school, but Dad, the twins, and I were all off.  D brilliantly shut himself in the linen closet by climbing under the bottom shelf and then pulling the door closed.  He was frantically trying to get out, but couldn't reach the doorknob because the shelf was in the way.  It took me a minute to find the poor guy.  I had my company office party tonight and we went glass blowing.  I made a paper weight and will post pics as soon as we get them back.  It was fun partying with my office peeps!

(12/18) Work from home day for me.  I have a short work week this week, and am off all week next week. C is off on break as well. Should be fun!

Silver and Gold...

Found on C's wall.  LOVE!
Me: Did you show S your nails & toes, D?
D: Don't talk about it!

Dad: You have busy hair today.
D: It's not busy, it's crazy.

Me: Did you have fun at hockey?
J: Yeah!  I had fun using the big people to skate!

J: That's the torture, Mama!
Uhm... why does my child know this word, and why is he using it to describe the Xmas light setting?

D: See the canaries (ornaments) up there?  Those are my canaries!

D: There's no Haggen!  It's in the garbage!  Someone threw it in the garbage!! WAAAAH!
Super concerned about the Haggen's closing by us.

C: If you wake up, you can come hear the new music!
D: BAYMAX, YAAAAAY!!  Mom we need more Baymax!
(Fall Out Boy's Immortals from Big Hero 6 ~ which I have now listened to 999 times)

(12/1) Work and school day.  Ready, squetti, Tuesday, and..... GO!  My Tuesday was a blur, as they tend to be.  A good blur, but a blur.

(12/2) Day off for me. I got the grumpy one off to school and then ended up giving myself the very same pep talk a short while later. "Yes, this activity requires pants.  Remember your shit. And don't growl at other adults." Done. I couldn't find anything silver to dress the littles in for preschool, so ended up putting silver nail polish on their toes and fingers.  They loved it, and it was a hit at school!  The rest of our day went better and had definitely turned around by the evening.

(12/3) Work day for me, and Dad had the boys.  They went to hockey this evening and got home a little before bedtime for the twinadoes.  We had a quiet night in.  I tried to read, but didn't make it very far.

(12/4) Work day from home for me, and Dad had the kiddos.  He headed up to grab the teenager to babysit for us this evening. And then our plans fell through.  Because of course. We ended up watching a movie while the bigs created a giant Lego city.  EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME!

(12/5) All the boys had hockey today.  C had a game at early o'clock. Dad took C and the teen for the game and breakfast.  C had a meltdown at the end, so they ended up coming home afterward.  The twins and I scooted out to the gym before their practice.  I swooped home to grab the rest of my grumpy family and we headed back to the rink.  The Totems were out helping the boys today.  J had the best time zooming around with his player.  After hockey, we went home, and I collected the teen so I could run some errands, and then planned to run her back home.  In our errands, we grabbed some hair dye.  I double checked that we still had the go-ahead, and went back our home to color her hair, and kept her another night.  Since we had a sitter, we went out with some friends after the kiddos went down, and had a great time.

(12/6) Christmas has now exploded all over my house.  I got the tree out, and the twins put about 10 ornaments on the top (their eye level), and then randomly dumped the rest throughout my living room. We left our mess behind (mess interuptus) and headed for Grandma and Graddad's to do cookies, gingerbread houses, and to help decorate their tree.  We had a lovely time!  C's house was a little sparse on the decor because he choose to eat his decorations instead.  LOL!  We ran the teen back in the afternoon and came home to figure out dinner. It was a great weekend!

(12/7) School, work, and hockey today.  I caught up with the twins at hockey, and they threw a royal fit about having to go home and go to bed.  They apparently think I do not know how to tell time, and argued all the way home about it not being late nor bedtime, and that they still needed dinner (though they had already eaten).  Yeah, no.  Bedtime FTW!
