It's Gonna Be May

(3/29) Work and school for everybody today. It was an especially meeting-full Meeting Tuesday since I will be off next week. The twins have half days this week for conferences. J is loving the finally sunny weather. He and the neighborhood kids covered the fence and their fort in cherry blossoms. He also recently rediscovered all his Nerf gear and is ready to take his bike into battle.

(3/30) I had the day off today and had the kiddos' conferences to attend. J's was amazing--he has been working so hard to achieve his goals every day and the academics are coming right along. I'm so proud of him! D's was right about what I expected. No concerns academically. It's just the doing of the work that remains. We also went to the book fair and J got a book on hacking safes, so apparently I'm raising bank robbers? It came with a safe that he can set a code or combination lock to hold his treasures. They also got some new posters and we decorated their rooms.

(3/31) How the heck are we at the end of the month again already? The boys and I had work and school today and Dad had the day off. Dad is now off on vacation til next weekend. Woohoo! We're all very happy next week is spring break and are willing Friday to move along quickly!

(4/1) The boys and I had one last work and school day before we're off on spring break. We have a little beach trip planned through Tuesday and then we'll have a staycation for the rest of the time.

(4/2) We got packed up and headed out for vacation. We have a cute Airbnb in Grayland where we've stayed a few times. We arrived in time to prep dinner and then we all hit the beach after. It was pretty pleasant out, especially when the sun peeked through. I went back for the sunset but the clouds had other plans. It was still a lovely evening. We watched one of our favorite comics on YouTube after the kiddos went to bed and I totally forgot to collect the twins tablets, which resulted in some 3am noise. Stinkers.

(4/3) Dad didn't sleep well last night and was up early looking at clamming recipes. He hit the beach at 6a and came back with 15 razor clams and fried them up for us to try. Pretty good! It was a yucky day out, so we went to the Extreme Fun Center for some extreme fun. J managed to score three balls from the claw machine. Dad, D, and C played laser tag where C kicked booty. We had pizza for lunch and came back to the house for more Beavis and Butt-Head, as is tradition when we're here.

(4/4) I'm glad Dad decided to go clamming yesterday, because today was all sideways rain, hail, sun, rain, hail, repeat. I went out this morning for a bit and it was crazy windy. D and I tried a beach trip again later this afternoon but only lasted 20 minutes. We ordered a big lunch from Bennett's and all tried different things so there was a lot of sharing.

(4/5) We packed up and headed home today. It was beautiful out this afternoon. I ran to the store to get some flowers for Nanan's birthday tomorrow and may have snagged a few for myself too. Other than that, I read my books and we had a lazy day.

(4/6) We took Nanan out for breakfast at The Totem Diner for her birthday. D got chocolate French toast which had a pile of whipped cream and Nutella on top. He was thrilled! J really wanted to go to the park after breakfast so he went and played while Nanan and I sat in the sun. We had a pretty chill afternoon back at home and all bummed around and did our own things.

(4/7) Oh my, it shaped up to be a beautiful day! It was the first 70+° day, so Dad set up our new gas fire pit and grilled tonight. I got as much weeding done as I could before my hands stopped pinching and enjoyed listening to my book in the sun.

(4/8) Sarah and I met for a walk to the 'Bux this morning. It was much colder today, so I'm glad we did all the things yesterday! J went out to play without his coat this afternoon, expecting it to be like yesterday, and came home shivering and complaining of frost bite. Other than that, we had a pretty lazy day around here. I'm sad that the end of vacation is nearing and am starting to think about all that needs doing next week.

(4/9) Today was a pretty lazy day. We had ALL the weather today ~ rain, hail, slush(!), sun. I tried to go out and do more weeding but made it about ten minutes before the rain machine kicked back on. Oh darn, I was forced to go back to my book.

(4/10) Last day of vacay for the boys and me and Dad headed back to work. We had another day of crazy weather and J came home a popsicle from the park this afternoon. He thought the storm was over so didn't take his coat and got caught in a hail storm. Yeahhh, you can't trust spring weather around here. Take your jacket, dude. I had virtual book club this afternoon. We didn't have a ton to share this time because the book was really good, but was dense. My favorite part is always talking afterward about what else we're reading and wanting to read next. I'm never going to get through my TBR list.

(4/11) Back to reality for everyone today. Groan! The boys did pretty well considering it was their first day back after break but J was disappointed in the day's point total. It was still more than fine, so I gave him a hug and he ran off to play at the park.

(4/12) Busy day of meetings for me today at work. We're planning an in-person gathering for next week and I've got some other irons in the fire. It's a lot coming back from vacay and I was feeling a bit fried by the end of the day.

(4/13) I had the day off and the men had work and school. It has been so cold lately and our walk was a chilly one. I took the boys to the store for their weekly treat run and J immediately changed into his uniform and plopped on the couch to play video games. He decided he wasn't going anywhere!

(4/14) Work and school for the boys and me today and Dad had the day off. I had kind of a crazy day at work and there were lots of meetings which don't usually dominate my Thursdays. I hope it's quieter tomorrow because I've still got a lot of normal work to get done!

(4/15) Today was a work day for me. Sarah's been home most of this week so we got to take a daylight walk and enjoy everyone's flowers. It won't be long now before we start seeing the sunrise on our dark-thirty walks. The boys had school today and Dad had the day off. He ran around hoping to upgrade the twins' PC but wasn't successful and ended up ordering the parts to go with the ones we have on hand. So hopefully soon!

(4/16) I ran some errands this morning and stopped at the plant store to find something to fill my new pot that Dad ordered from the Mudpies. I also grabbed a bigger pot for my maranta which has gone bananas and then decided to do a little rearranging while I was at it. Nanan joined us this morning while I was playing in the dirt and we did eggs with the kids. She stayed through dinner. It's so nice that it's staying light out later so we didn't have to rush.

(4/17) Hoppy Easter! The kids agreed that the egg hunt would begin at 8am. C said he'd probably just swoop in later and find the ones that the twins didn't, but he was up and ready at 8 too. He wandered slowly around and filled his pockets with eggs faster than the twins could mad-dash around. Everyone still got lots of candy. Dad had to work this afternoon. I took the day and did a little yard work (in the sun!) and listened to my book while the kiddos had a sugar-filled day of video gaming.

(4/18) Work and school for us all today. I spent some time creating a poster of all the things we've missed at work. It turned out pretty cute and I'm excited for our party tomorrow! The kids are in for a shock-- no Mom in the morning to pack lunches and get them up and out the door.

(4/19) I actually went to work today--in my building! We had a huge welcome back party for the whole staff today. It's been two years of covidy fun, and now we'll slowly be bringing the staff back with more in-person days. I peopled so much today and was pretty exhausted by the time I got home. The kiddos survived without me just fine too. Phew!

(4/20) I had the day off today and it was so nice getting to just sit and read in the quiet. I took the boys for their treat day even though Dad arranged for us to have Mod pizza tonight as a part of their school's fundraiser. I even made cake this evening at Dad's suggestion. We were a little sugared out by the end of the day but sometimes it's worth it.

(4/21) Dad was off today and the boys and I had work and school. Two of the three had appointments after school too. Dad got the parts together to upgrade the twins' PC and worked to put it all together tonight. It's been a minute since he's done PC repair and he had to remember what he used to do.

(4/22) Work & school for the boys and me and Dad had the day off. He finished completing the twins' PC upgrade and the kids were very excited to test it out when they got home. D excitedly told us ALL the things!

(4/23) Today was S&S' baby shower. I found a lil place in Burlington through Parks & Rec that was close enough to everyone. It was a perfect spot and Amber made it so cute! I think our girl felt pretty celebrated and it looks like they're ready to welcome the little mister in June. I still can't believe we're gonna be grandparents!

(4/24) We had another day of lovely weather so I worked out in the yard. I weeded the raspberry beds, mowed the lawn and tamed the salad bar in the dogs' yard. I took a break this afternoon and got to read outside with my iced coffee, and it was glorious!

(4/25) Blah, Monday again? Do we have to? Everyone had work and school. I can tell the kids have spring fever even if the weather may not reflect the current season. It's been so cold and rainy. I'm ready for some more sunshine!

(4/26) Work and school for us all today. I had a busy day, but got a lot done. I'm so glad I have tomorrow off because I'm exhausted!

(4/27) After the kids went to school today I went back to sleep. Apparently I needed it! Once Dad went off to work, I ran out and grabbed sushi for dinner and lunch for myself and then came back home and read my book in the quiet. I took the kids for their treat at the store and we all came back to hang at home.

(4/28) Work and school for the kiddos and me today and Dad had the day off. He went estate sale shopping and came home with some new trinkets. He's been having fun going and we have a cool bottle collection now.

(4/29) Well hello there Friday, thank you for coming to the party! Both Sarah and I were tired on our walk this morning and were wishing that it gotten rained out. But alas, no. It always feels good once we're done, but early-o-clock is still so darn early! Dad ran C out for a haircut after school. The twins opted to stay home because D's isn't in his eyes yet and J wanted to quickly get into his uniform and start the weekend.

(4/30) Blarg. The children were up at 6am--on my weekend--which meant the Yimmy was up at 6am begging for food. And then he begged for attention after his highness had received his breakfast. It was supposed to be a rainy day so we decided we'd take the loaf with us to pick up our wine. She was the star of the day and got lots of love. This evening I met up with my coworkers to say goodbye to one of our teammates. We started outside by the fire at McMennamins but then moved around the corner for Mexican and margaritas. It was delish!

(5/1) Ahhh, sleep-in Sunday. I read my book and had a very lazy morning. Then I headed out to run some errands and came home to do a little work in the back yard. I finally got everything weeded and the new plants I bought (because of course!) planted.

(5/2) Work and school for us all today. It's back to cruddy weather again. I guess we had the coldest April in 11 years and I'm hopeful this month will bring a little bit more sunshine.
