Middle School Blues

(10/13) Friday the 13th! The kiddos had the day off school since it was a teacher workday. I worked from home and Dad had the day off. The twins went shopping with Dad and talked him in to all sorts of things, but on the plus side, we had quite the feast tonight!

(10/14) Nanan came over to take the twins out for their birthday. They started at the candy store but ended up at WinCo as it is their favorite, familiar haunt. C generously chauffeured and helped keep track of them.

(10/15) Dad had to work today and the rest of us were off for the day. Dad came home midday to work from home and was here when we had a temporary foster pup dropped off. Marlin is a cutie and the crew was pretty nonplussed by his arrival.

(10/16) I worked from home, Dad worked at work, and the boys had school. We had a pretty chill day with the only excitement being our brat cat who absolutely wasn't having our foster dog in *his* space tonight. Thankfully Marlin was fine downstairs with the girls.

(10/17) We all had work and school today. All my meetings were moved or cancelled and it ended up being a pretty light day. Score!

(10/18) I had the day off today and after the men headed to work and school, I sat down to read my book and closed my eyes for a second and all the sudden it was two hours later. Apparently I was tired! The kiddos continued with Chinese food Wednesday and this week we added bao.

(10/19) I worked in the building today and was all by my lonesome over in my corner. I had a productive day and spent a good chunk of it listening to my book.

(10/20) Dad had the day off, the boys had school, and I worked from home today. Our lil foster boy got picked up this afternoon. He is a sweetie. Paws are crossed for a potential adoption this weekend!

(10/21) We went to a Must Love Dogs event and got to say hello to Mr. Marlin and pet lots of puppies. River got her picture taken for the rescue calendar. We're sponsoring her picture for next February, which will mark a year with us. When we got home, Dad and C headed out for the junkyard. C has had money burning a hole in his pocket. They found a new project car for C: a '97 Subaru Legacy. C is pretty pleased with himself. C, Sarah & I went to Pink the Rink tonight and the Tips were asleep on their skates. We ended up leaving when we were down by 3 and ended up losing 5-1. Ouch.

(10/22) I slept in this morning which was lovely. J & I hit Spirit this afternoon to find something for Halloween since he decided he does want to Trick or Treat. He settled on a cloak and a sword. Really, it was all about that sword. We bought a few other things and then stopped for pumpkins on the way home. I had book club this afternoon with the ladies. I was glad to put a few lighter books in my queue! My reads lately have been good, but really heavy.

(10/23) Poor J was a zombie this morning. We walked by his room last night and he was still up reading to Cass at 11pm. It was almost too cute to stop. He claimed he was fine after having some breakfast, but sure was slow to get out the door.

(10/24) Meeting Tuesday was super light for me. Just one meeting on the books today. Sure can't complain about that!

(10/25) The first inspection Dad could get for C's new car was in Spokane. So he spent the day driving all the way over and back for a ten minute appointment. C had a three hour late start due to testing and realllllly wanted to go with Dad, but alas, he had to work this evening. I had a pretty chill day off. The boys wanted Chinese food & a trip to WinCo so that's what we did.

(10/26) Now that C's new car has been inspected, Dad got it squared away for C to drive to work this evening. He was thrilled! I worked in the building today so didn't get to see him before he left, but he had a huge smile on his face when he returned.

(10/27) The moon was amazing on our walk this morning. My cell absolutely refused to capture it as anything but a ball of light, but please enjoy this crappy photo. Today was a work from home day for me and school day for the boys. Dad had the day off and finished running all the errands from the past couple of days.

(10/28) I was reminded that today is National Chocolate Day. I left D pondering as to how we should celebrate and then ran to the shelter to pick up a foster doggo. His name is Jack and he's about 12 years old. He was VERY unhappy about being kenneled for the trip home but handled introductions to the crew like a champ. D decided on breaking out the mini donut maker to make chocolate donuts with a Nutella glaze. He recommends eating them Nutella side down for maximum enjoyment.

(10/29) The boys and I had a pretty quiet morning. C's friend came over this afternoon and they bled the brakes on his new car. Unfortunately, after hours of working on it, it was leaking on our test drive and we'll have to get it looked at before deeming it safe for C to drive. He's super bummed. J carved pumpkins today. We thought we'd minimally carve and then put peanut butter in the holes for the squirrels to finish. I think we better move it up front because they haven't noticed it yet.

(10/30) I worked from home today, the kiddos had school, and Dad had the day off. I made crockpot lasagna so the house smelled so good all day. We were all ready for dinner by the time it was ready! I dropped foster doggo Jack off for his dental tomorrow. Our house will be a madhouse tomorrow so we decided that it would be best to pick him up on Wednesday.

(10/31) Happy Halloween! I worked in the building today and kicked the day off with D's IEP meeting. The teachers were all in costume so that was fun! Work planned a happy hour for the end of the day. We had some treats and then broke promptly at 5pm to head out for the rest of the night's festivities. J dressed in a cloak and took his lighted sword out trick-or-treating and D went with us, but opted not to wear a costume. We went with Sarah and fam and they all had great costumes! We got lots of trick-or-treaters at home too and gave out tons of playdoh and slime!

(11/1) I had the day off today. After the men were off to work and school, I hit Petco to pick up birthday treats to celebrate Toffee's 3rd birthday and Cass' 10th gotcha day. I then went to pick up Jack from the shelter. He was very relieved to be back! Normally we do Chinese food Wednesdays, but since we had Panda last night, we opted for pizza tonight. Everyone approved!

(11/2) I worked in the building today. Sarah and I decided to skip our walk this morning and it was probably a good thing since it was stormy all day. Dad took C's car in to have the brakes looked at and had them replace the muffler. The brakes looked good and he's all set to drive it again!

(11/3) I worked from home today, Dad had the day off, and the twins had an early release from school. I saw a comedian we both enjoy was hosting a show on Zoom to prepare for his upcoming special so I bought us tickets. It started right after I got off work, so I hurried through the evening commute (went downstairs) and turned it on. It was a great way to cap off the day!

(11/4) Dad found a buyer for C's old car and they drove it out to Ellensburg to meet up and do the sale. It was quite stormy today and Noodle was not a fan of the booms. Poor little guy was shaking something furious.

(11/5) Lazy Sunday for the boys and me. I lounged around reading my book for a while and then went out for a very photogenic walk. Though it's fall, I've still got some roses hanging in there! I know, I know, I'm supposed to prune them, but I don't wanna.

(11/6) We all had work and school today and I worked from home. We picked up an automatic feeder for our cat the other day and I set to go off at 10:30p. We had come up to go to bed early and our cat was pestering us about food as he usually does when it went off. It scared him so bad! He bolted for under the bed and cracked us up!

(11/7) I worked in the building today. I'll be off the rest of the week, so I spent the day planning for that and in meetings. J had a rough day and called me at work with just an hour left really wanting to come home. I gave him a pep talk and then got to give him a real hug once I got home. We watched AFV, talked about what was bugging him, and he went to bed feeling better.

(11/8) We didn't get to Wednesday like normal today. I had a appointment this afternoon so took WinCo requests yesterday and then did the run this morning while the kiddos were at school. Dad took the day off so he could drive me after the appointment. They don't like you driving after a medically assisted nap as it turns out. (I'm totally fine ~ just routine stuff.) I hadn't eaten anything since yesterday morning so Dad went and got poke from our favorite place and I made up the standard Chinese dinner for the twins.

(11/9) Dad and I had the day off today. I had turned my alarm off and almost forgot that the boys still had school when Dad's alarm starting dinging. Whoops! I got them up and out the door and then sat down to have coffee with the pups. I went up to Nanan's this morning to program a new remote for her TV since her old one was no longer working. We had a nice visit and more coffee. I spotted a sale at the nursery on the way to her house and stopped on the way home to grab some new houseplants and then headed home to pot everything up.

(11/10) The boys had the day off today for Veterans Day. J and I were up early so made a big breakfast that the rest of the house gradually got up to eat. I scheduled J for his ortho appointment in the morning and then scheduled the twins for their covid vaccines in the afternoon. I promised them that I'd take them to pick out gelato and their favorite lunches from WinCo as a bribe. J was a champ getting his braces on and he chose light blue bands. The twins did great with their shots too and we headed on home to video game the rest of the day.

(11/11) Poor J was knocked out by his vaccine yesterday and was feeling pretty puny this morning. We got some Gatorade and applesauce on board and he slowly improved as the morning went along. His mouth was still sore so we made up the jello and put on AFV to distract him. Dad and C went up to Rob's today to work on cars and then got back together this evening for a hockey game. Tips won 6-2 tonight!

(11/12) The boys and I had a pretty lazy day today. I got out some of the holiday stuff including the turkeys the boys made as littler kids and the snow globes. D chided me that it isn't even December, but I've decorated earlier in years past. I even got out a strand of lights to put above the back door. It's just too dark outside!

(11/13) We all had work and school today. I worked from home and the twins have early releases all week due to conferences. J had a quick doctor's appointment this afternoon and I promised no pokes in the arm this time!

(11/14) Everybody had work and school today. I worked in the building and took our food drive donations into the food bank. We got the twinsies' school photos back. Don't they just look thrilled? Middle school mug shots for sure.
