Big Hair, Don't Care

Me: Here, why don't you color. It'll help you behave.
D: I am being-have!

C: You can now all call me the ancient ninja of the year!

Me: Oh good, I totally wanted to put this away for you!
C: I'm just too awesome.
So glad my children are all so humble.

D: Mama, you need a haircut.
Me: I do?
D: Yeah, your hair is big.

D: Is that your black tutu?
Me: Yep, it's my tutu. (aka a dress)
D: I like your tutu!
Me: I like my tutu too!

J (sobbing): I not the bad guy; I the JJ!

C: Dear Japan, please start making jet packs. I'm tired of walking.

(10/20) Work day for us adults and school for the boys. I managed to sprain my ankle yesterday by walking, because I'm talented like that. I ended up home with the boys for a quiet evening in instead of trying to hobble around the gym. Sorry excuse, but it is what it is.

(10/21) Preschool this morning for the littles. It's really fun to peek in on them doing their own thing. J built a tower and was totally engrossed in construction, when next to him was a whole gaggle of girls in princess dresses dancing around. D kind of floats from room to room checking things out, and playing here and there. I got out the playdoh after we got home and they went to town, while also making a huge mess. Fun for all of us! Well, maybe not for me so much with the clean-up.

(10/22) Work day for me, and Dad had the boys. The boys had a pretty low-key day. I popped home briefly for a quick goodbye before heading out again. Thursdays are a blur.

(10/23) Work day (from home) for me, and Dad had the kiddos. I'm telling you, the commute is a real bear on Fridays. I had book club this evening, and to the surprise of everyone, we discussed the actual book this time. So fun!

(10/24) Hockey this morning for the littles, and C is still on the bench until he's cleared again to play. D is doing awesome, and started making some real progress standing on the ice, and taking some baby steps. J just becomes a noodle when he is picked up. Cracks me up! After hockey, we went home for lunch, and some well-earned time with Mario.

(10/25) Work day for Dad, and the rest of us bummed around in our jammies. C got out all our old Halloween costumes and the boys had a ball playing. J is in love with the Spider-Man costume and even wanted to sleep in it. So freakin' cute!

(10/26) Fun day today! I took the day off work to attend the littles' field trip to the pumpkin patch with their preschool. Nanan came along to help with twin wrangling. We went to lunch afterward and came home for a little bit of video games before the kiddos donned their costumes again, and tore up the house.

Pumpkin Spice

Me: Sorry, I have to work today and can't come to preschool.
D: And Mom? I'm not proud at you.

Me: Wow, good job!
J: No, it's just excellent!

D: I was just worrous. (worried/nervous)

Me: Do you want to help me by doing something I normally say no to?
D: YES!

D: Everything is awesome! .....DOT COM!

D: C needs a check-up!
...to every nurse and doctor in the office

D: And Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom?
Me: D? D? D? D?
D: Mom, stop talking about D!

Me: You're lucky you boogers are so cute.
D: No! My boogers are in my nose.

D: Daddy, the hands need to go faster!
(on the clock, so his turn with the DS would arrive)

J (petting Dad's knee): I just niced you.

D: We don't like to be quiet apparently.
Apparently not.... Funny, C used to use the word apparently too.

(10/13) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys.  C went to the nurse's office feeling puny early on in the day.  After going home and sleeping, he was full of beans by the time I got home in the evening.  Hopefully that's the end of that!

(10/14) Work day for Dad, and I had the boys today. C was feeling great, so I sent him off to school and the littles and I headed for preschool.  I got a call from C's school an hour later that he was feeling dizzy and was in the nurse's office again.  I ran him in for a suspected concussion.  We may not have seen it, but he does recall getting hit on the head during Saturday's game.  Doc says no hockey until he's five days head pain free.  I bribed the littles with video games for good behavior at the doctor's, and later we all went for sushi.  Because magical healing powers.  Dad ran C in for an eye exam later this evening, and in addition to getting his bell wrung, his script has significantly changed for the worse, and now he must wear his glasses full-time.

(10/15) Work day for me and Dad had the boys.  C woke up feeling miserable again today, but perked up around lunchtime.  We went ahead and kept him home from school.  Poor bubba... hope he's feeling better soon.

(10/16) Work day (from home) for me, and Dad had the kiddos.  C made it back through school today.  He attended a play at the Children's Theatre tonight with Nanan.  He got a little queasy in the car on the way, but made it through the rest of the evening okay, and got to spend the night at her house.  Fun for both of them!

(10/17) The littles had hockey this morning.  J was pretty done about half way through, but D made some progress and stood up, earning himself a sticker.  We went for lunch at B-dubs and the littles got to play video games for a good hockey effort.  And we even had enough leftovers for C to have when he got home from Nanan's.  The rest of the day was pretty chill.  D has taken chatterbox to a whole new level and drove us all insane.  Love that boy, but omgoodness, I needed ear plugs this weekend.

(10/18) I had the best day today.  The boys and I went up to grab our teenager and take her with us to do pumpkins with the grands. JJ really wanted a big, blue pumpkin about as big as he is, and when I said no, he tried rolling it over to Granddad. Stinker! I later had to take the pumpkin tops ("stars") away from him, because he kept eating them.  LOL!   We carved over and Grandma & Granddad's, ate pizza (well, we ate pizza...JJ ate pumpkin), and toasted the seeds... which D was very upset that we forgot back at Granddad's.  It was fun to visit with the teenager; I've missed her!

(10/19) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the kiddos.  We're really hoping for a normal, quiet week this week!

Birthday Hockey!

D: Mom!  Breakfast is almost ready!  Daddy says breakfast is ready!
Me: Okay, thanks, I'll be up in a minute.  Go ahead and go upstairs, please.
D: Breakfast is ready!  Daddy says breakfast is ready!
Me: Thanks, D, I'll be up in a minute.  Go upstairs.
D: I know that the first time, Mom.

Moose leans in & over to get belly rubs ~
D: Moose needs to fall on me.

Dad makes their favorite (mac & cheese) and then nobody eats ~
Dad: So I pretty much failed at making lunch.
D: Yeah, that's probably it.

D: 18!
Me: And what seat is Mama in?
D: 17!
Me: What seat is JJ in?
D: 19!
Me: What seat is Daddy in?
D: Zero-teen!  (20)

Me: Good morning!
D & J: NO!

Me: Did you make a wish?
J: I am ticklish!

D: I need to blow the wish!  I just need one candle!

(10/6) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys.  Dad came home sick today.  The boys were over at Amanda's, so he got a mostly quiet house, aside from our furballs. I just hope the crud doesn't spread.  DO.NOT.WANT!

(10/7) I worked in the twins' classroom today.  Their teacher is out for the next couple of weeks, so they pretty much had extended playtime all day. Dad had noticed Moose's eye was all swollen this morning, so I arranged for Nanan to come stay with the boys while I ran him in to the vet.  No damage to the eye itself, but it sure was swollen and ouchy.  He'll be on anti-inflammatory drops for a week.  Poor bubba.

New boots, clothes, & "emails" (cards)
(10/8) Work day for me, and Dad had the kids.  I hit the gym after work and got home at bedtime.  I went downstairs to make myself some dinner and J called down asking if I was making hot dogs.  Ew, no!  LOL!

(10/9) Work day for me and Dad had the kiddos.  Dad spoiled us with a big breakfast of eggs and hash browns.  D kept coming downstairs to say hi to Moose, and thinks I need to take a picture of him every time he does... which I usually do, because those two are so cute together.

(10/10) C's game ended up getting rescheduled to bright and early this morning.  He and Dad went off to that, and I took the twinsies to the gym with me since they didn't have ice time today.  After we got back home and cleaned up, I took the boys out to Elevated Sportz for some rainy day fun.  We had lunch and the boys worked up a sweat.  We planned a family dinner at a Mexican restaurant since the boys will easily eat their weight in chips and beans.  And they think of that restaurant as the "Happy Birthday Restaurant".  After dinner, we took the boys home and threw them in the bath and then Grandma came to watch them while Dad & I went to the Silvertips' home opener.  C stayed home because he wasn't feeling well (hopefully just too much play), so Dad & I actually had an unplanned date night!

(10/11) Happy birthday twins!  They are four today!  We went to brunch this morning at Bob's to celebrate some more.  C wasn't looking too hot again this morning, but decided he'd be better off not missing out on the cinnamon rolls.  We ran everyone home after breakfast and then I hit Target all by myself.  I found some noise-reducing headphones for the twins to take to the game tonight.  J is very sensitive to sound, so I figured we'd better be safe than sorry.  C was still looking a little peaked and was moody as all get-out, so he got to hang with Grandma & Granddad while we took the littles to their first Silvertips game.  The twins did great!  D wore the headphones more than J, and kept having Dad turn on some music.  Well, since it was D, it was more like turn on the music, turn it off, turn it on, turn it off, etc., ad infinitum.

(10/12) Work and school on tap for the day.  C doesn't have hockey tonight so we get the night off. Huzzah!

Through the Looking Glass

J (looking in a mirror): Look! It's a look and see me!

D: Can we have a snack?
Me: Nooo, it's too early.  At the 10.
D: It is at the 10!
... sure enough, the clock had stopped at 10.

Me: Look, C is the #3 guy!
J: I need to be 4, a-cuz I am 4!

D: We don't want to play hockey.  The ice is too slippery!
I hope it's slippery... it's ice!

(9/29)  Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys.  I hit the gym after work and got home in time to put the littles to bed.  At least I get to see them for a little bit in the mornings.  The things they say when they're not quite awake keep me laughing all day.  And it cracks me up when J just grabs his blanket and melts into the floor.  He's even the morning kid!

(9/30) Today was my day off and I worked at the preschool during the twins' class.  They are loving it and I'm really pleased at their successes so far. They both go and do their own thing and don't cling to me.  It's fun to observe them from afar.

(10/1) Work day for me, and Dad had all the boys today. He got to take the whole herd to C's practice this afternoon.  I got home shortly before them tonight and pretty much said hi and put the littles to bed.

(10/2) Work day for me, and Dad had the kiddos.  He had to run the truck in to have an oil pressure issue looked at.  I was working downstairs just hoping the littles weren't killing each other. J nailed D right under the eye yesterday, and he has a pretty gnarly scratch.  They don't know what happened, but said it was an "axle-dent." Boys...  I'm going to make them always wear "armor."

(10/3) All the boys had hockey this morning.  C had a scrimmage and is looking smashing in blue, if I do say so.  Dad said he is playing great defense this season.  I brought the littles for their ice time later in the morning.  No crying today, and both willingly got on the ice!  I told them they could play video games after practice, so they did come off a time or two all ready to play. Had to send them back out saying practice wasn't over yet. J made an attempt to stand, and their coach says she'll give them a sticker if they stand on their own next practice.  After that, it was home for soup and grilled cheese sammiches.  And we had a sitter come for the evening so we could go out.

(10/4) Today we did nothing, and it was awesome.  Well, Dad had to work... but the rest of us stayed in our jammies all day.  I did make us all go outside for a few hours because boots and jammie pants are a look.  Got the yard all cleaned up while the boys played and went on pretend camping adventures in the shed.

(10/5) Happy Monday.  School for the boys and work for the parentals on tap today. The littles protested waking up big-time today, saying it was too dark and early.  Yeah, I know... I know... Zzz
