The Days of 2020

(9/23) Fall has arrived. It was drizzly on our walk today, and rained for much of the day. I was off today, and Dad had to work. The boys all got through their schooling, and C was bummed to see that it was *still* raining because he wanted to take his doggo for a walk. Dad treated us to sushi tonight and we had a quiet evening at home.

(9/24) Another soggy morning walk. I had work, the boys had school, and Dad had the day off. He made us grilled cheese sammiches and soup for lunch today, followed by a delicious shrimp alfredo dinner. I admit, I fell into a carb coma after dinner and zonked out until it was time to call Nanan for our nightly video chat.

(9/25) School and work for the boys and me today and Dad had the day off. The boys had music class, and made instruments again in class. The boys were excited to harvest the one red apple from our trees out front. The green ones should be ready in a few more weeks, and hopefully will be good baking apples! J thought it was an especially clever trick to get them to eat more fruit by serving it with peanut butter.

(9/26) I attended a Zumba party for breast cancer this morning. It was a lot of fun!  During class we were supposed to get a loner fridge delivered, only it arrived flooded from the previous day's rain. All the electronics were dripping, so we passed. Dad called the store, because this is ridiculous. We bought a new fridge back in the middle of August. They happened to get a new fridge in just today, and will swap ours out on Weds. That better be the end of this!

(9/27) I slept in this morning, which was lovely, and then took a kickboxing class. I bummed around for much of the day and finished my audiobook (Hum If You Don't Know the Words). So good!  C met up with some buddies and walked to get ice cream from B&R. He promised they'd all stay masked and 6' apart. I'm glad they got to go out!

(9/28) Yaaawn, Monday sure came early. Our walk was under the stars this morning, and it sure was gorgeous!  I hear the smoke is returning this week though--ugh. The boys had school, and Dad and I worked today. There was a global outage for MS products, which brought everything to a halt about an hour before I normally log off for the day. So that was fun.

(9/29) Work day for Dad and me, and the boys had school. The debate was tonight, which I watched out on the treadmill (where I could yell at the flustercluck in peace). We turned off the news after that and watched old episodes of Cutthroat Kitchen. It's going to be a rollercoaster from here on out, that's for sure.

(9/30) I had the day off today and the boys and Dad had school/work. The new fridge was delivered today so hopefully this saga is over!  Yippy!!  This one is a different brand, so fingers crossed!

(10/1) Shew, busy day! I joined a zoom for a campaign texting program that began at 9:30ET, which is 6:30am my time. Because of this, I skipped my normal morning walk, and was pretty much attached to my computer all day. I did promise D that we could decorate later because it IS October, so we did that after dinner tonight. Dad took the boys for haircuts this afternoon, and they are all looking so handsome!

(10/2) TGIF! Oh wow, it's been a day. It was announced that the president has Covid-19, so my walk this morning and work were buzzing with the news. I kept an eye on Twitter, but left the news off until this evening. Dad went down to Seattle to scrounge around for his new hobby (vintage PC restoration), but didn't have any success. He did, however, pick up an amazing banana cream pie from the Snohomish Pie Co. Two words: sugar coma. The boys were peeved that I didn't also give them their nightly gummy bears. Seriously children?

(10/3) We all had a lazy day today. I read another fantastic book (The Mothers), and walked on the treadmill with my coffee this morning. Intermittently I kept up with the day's drama on Twitter. I also put in a few hours texting for the Biden campaign. Dad went out and picked up a feast for dinner: steak & tatoes! Delish!

(10/4) We had such a fun time today! The grands came over to carve pumpkins with us, and to celebrate the twins' birthday a little early. They came bearing sushi and donuts, and even a PSL for me! We were able to gather outside, and the weather mostly held until we were about done, so we moved our party out under the front porch. D and J both received SnapCircuit kits, and D was enraptured. He played with them all afternoon, up until bedtime, and even weaseled them back in his room when they were supposed to be sleeping.

(10/5) D showed off his projects at school today. It was really sweet! I had a busy day of work, so kept only a half eye on the e-schooling happening. Chaos R us for sure.

(10/6) Today was a work day, and I think I had 37 meetings today. It sure was a busy one! I was glad to close up my laptop this evening and veg out. The kiddos had school and Dad worked. We celebrated having our dog boys Cass & Moose for seven years this month (we've had the Noodley for three years this month too). We gave them all some bones to nom on, and they were thrilled.

(10/7) I was off today, but still ended up doing a little work midday. Of course that would be when the children, who were told that they couldn't play squirt guns until after school, went out and played squirt guns during a break. In so doing, J got all wet, and decided to dry his clothes by the fireplace. He ended up burning his knee somehow on the aforementioned fireplace. Mind you, this was in the twenty minute span that I had asked them to play quietly--INSIDE--so I could focus and make a phone call. Then they had their special (tech class) and I heard a whole orchestra of sad violins as J described his injury. Some days, I tell you. The VP debate was tonight and Dad and I claimed the TV to watch. The kids went back outside to play squirt guns until they could no longer play nicely and had to come in.

(10/8) The boys and I had school and work, and Dad had the day off. It was stormy today, and the kiddos were disappointed that it's no longer squirt gun weather. It figures they would re-discover all the outside fun toys just as the weather turns.

(10/9) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and the boys had school. This marks the end of another extremely long week. We celebrated by ordering takeout from Red Robin.

(10/10) We had a pretty chill day today. I took a Zumba class online, and Dad went out for groceries. Dad and C made the twins shrimp fried rice and homemade gyozas for dinner as part of the twins' birthday weekend. C has the fried rice recipe down pat now. He makes it nearly every time we have leftover rice.

(10/11) Happy birthday, twinsies!  Dad made them Dutch babies for breakfast, and we let them video game their hearts out. D wanted to have a steak dinner, so Dad went out and got that, and I picked up two Polar Pizzas from Baskin & Robbins. We had presents and pie after dinner. We got D more SnapCircuits and J a pair of binoculars and a book by one of the YouTube personalities they love.

(10/12) Yawn, how are we at Monday again? Dad and I had work, and the boys had school. The twins' teacher was talking to them about distractions today, and boy did they have distractions aplenty.  I had to keep telling them to put this or that away and watch the screen. J said, "But Mom, I'm just trying to give them an example of a distraction!"  Ermahgerd, child. Put the toys away.

(10/13) Sarah and I took a rainy walk this morning, cutting the last little bit because it was really coming down. Dad and I both had to work today, and the boys had school. The twins had art as their special today and were tasked with drawing mugs. I was so impressed with their drawings!

(10/14) I had the day off today. It was raining this morning, so Sarah & I skipped our morning walk, and I slept in until it was time to get the kiddos up for school. I made apple crisp this afternoon with the apples from our trees out front. It turned out great! It was apparently National Dessert Day, so we celebrated. The boys' teacher tells them what national "holiday" it is every day as part of their morning group.

(10/15) School and work for the boys and me today. Dad had the day off, so I got to work upstairs mostly uninterrupted.

(10/16) Lucky boys had the day off school today since it was a teacher work day. Not-so-lucky C had to have a few baby teeth extracted at 8am today. Yuck. Sarah and I met for our morning walk, and then I had work like normal. Dad was off, and after taking C to his appointment, he went rock-hounding out at Howarth. He also ran some errands and picked up meatloaf from our favorite shop, and may have also brought home a lemon cream pie from the Pie Co. Omnomnom!  The sugar sure hit the twinadoes this evening, and they were literally buzzing on our nightly call with Nanan.

(10/17) We attempted today to go for our annual fall colors tour. It was supposed to be the best day weather-wise, but was drizzly and gray. We drove out along Chuckanut Dr, and only stopped once for pictures, so I didn't get many. The boys were cranky and fighting, the weather was crap, and we eventually came on home. It was National Pasta Day so we ordered from Acropolis this evening and had some tasty Greek food.

(10/18) Lazy day for the boys and me. I slept in and then lounged around and read my book. J has been begging and begging for a wagon, and when we looked online they were $80-$100! I asked if we could borrow Sarah's for a while to see if the fascination lasts longer than a few days. J is convinced he will be done deciding in a week, and will want to buy one then. I kept telling him he has to wait until after Halloween. He took his borrowed wagon to the park a few times yesterday--it was pretty cute!

(10/19) Work and school for us all today. I attended a community Zoom this evening on bringing the kiddos back to school. I've watched the numbers climb in our county and just can't imagine. It's going to be a long winter.

(10/20) Meeting Tuesday! Today was a busy-busy day; even more-so for Dad. Something broke at work and he ended up working a fourteen hour day. Ugh.

(10/21) I had the day off today, but the kiddos had Zooms off and on til 2:30pm. That definitely doesn't make for a restful day, but we made do. I went and picked up new pumpkins during a break since all of the ones we carved took flying leaps off the deck railing. If we don't get to carving these ones, they're at least nice to have as decoration!

(10/22) I'm doing the hour by hour challenge today (where you take a picture of every hour of your day), and kicked it off with an early start in the balmy 39° weather. BRRR! After work, Dad and I watched the debate and Sarah and I sent snarky comments to each other. Are we there yet?

(10/23) FriYAY! I've started a jamboard for work, and asked what was putting the yay in people's day. My contribution this morning was an eggnog latte. I've almost perfected 'em. There was a drive-through Halloween event at the boys' school tonight. The boys' teacher was dressed as a "real teacher" in a a busted-through box with "no mute" and "no bad internet" signs all over. I loved it!

(10/24) Nanan came over this afternoon to do pumpkins with the boys, and do a little belated birthday celebration. She got the boys beautiful wolf sweatshirts, a target set, and a tent. All which the kiddos loved! It was so nice to see her! C has passed her in height--it won't be long now before he passes us.

(10/26) And Monday again. It was 36° on my walk this morning. The boys have school, and us parentals are working. We're buckled in for a wild ride up to the election. Have you voted? Do it now!
