Farmer D

(8/31) Saturday mornings are my favorite! I went to Zumba, and then came home and whipped up a cake for the birthday girl. She's turning *18* this year! She and I wanted to go to the Sunflower Festival at Bob's Farm. D decided to come too, but was so hot this afternoon that he didn't even want to play in their back 40 area for kiddos. We had a lot of fun out in the fields, and I took some senior pictures of S. We picked up some corn too. We went to birthday sushi at our favorite haunt, and had a low-key evening at home.

(9/1)  We loafed around the house most of today, and decided on the lake for this afternoon's activity. The kids had fun swimming though were pretty miffed about being separated from their video games. Dear children, school is coming. You won't be able to play all day once it starts back up! Dad had dinner ready shortly after we all got back home. He and S went out looking for deals on housewares this evening as she'll be moving out soon. Ack!

(9/2) Sarah and I kicked Labor Day off with Zumba and a coffee walk. I ran S home out to a friend's house near her house, and made it back through holiday traffic three hours later. Nanan appeared to have dinner with us. Dad barbecued, and it was delish! The kiddos did their normal Sunday night chores tonight because we could.

(9/3) Work day for me. Dad took the twins in to meet their teachers and see their classrooms this afternoon. J went and picked up trash at the little park this evening ~ he says that should be one of his jobs. I keep telling him he can do that any time he likes!  We watched Ninja Warrior tonight, and the boys again got out all of the weights, and J had me make him a sweat band so he could go out and run on the treadmill. D has almost mastered doing a handstand. They just can't sit still while watching that show anymore.

(9/4) The kiddos headed back to school today.  The twins are in second grade, and C is a 7th grader.  I got to head to the gym after dropping them off and had the house to myself until they got home. Sounds like everyone had an a-okay day. Back to routine!

(9/5) The twins were grumpy as all get-out this morning, and greeted me with "NO!!" when I went in to wake them. Methinks playing with toys until after 10pm was not the best choice. Grumble, grumble. I forgot to start dinner on my way out this morning, so we ended up having pizza for dinner. D was thrilled! Dad and C ran out to pick up Dad's new glasses after I got home. He's finally joining the club.

(9/6) Sarah and I caught a walk before work today. Fall is definitely in the air! It is my favorite season. The kiddos survived their first half week back at school. There was the requisite filling out of all the forms and getting to know you surveys tonight for homework. Fun, fun!

(9/7) Those kiddos that were so hard to get out of bed earlier this week? Yeah, they were up around 6:30a. Dad stayed up and made us a fancy breakfast before turning in. I went to Zumba this morning and had some time to get lost in a book for a while before we all got ready to go to Sarah's mom's party. She wanted a baseball party, and we all played out in the field with the goats. It was so fun! J climbed her apple tree and so wants our trees to grow big enough to climb in. The tree he was climbing was over 100 years old, and I don't think our young dwarf apple trees will ever get big enough, at least in his lifetime. We ran C over to a friend's house for a birthday party. The clouds came in and opened up with an impressive lightning storm!  The twins came down and watched it with us on the porch.

(9/8) The twins and I bummed around the house for most of the day. C returned this afternoon. He said that he and his friends were successful at solving the escape room, but that the storm had knocked out a few of the hints.  We had dinner together and did our normal Sunday chores to get ready for the week.

(9/9) I got the kiddos off to school and had a quiet house in which to work. Ahhh! The twins were excited for Ninja Warrior this evening, and again got out the weights and practiced their moves. Such goofballs.

(9/10) Work day for me, and school for the kiddos. I saw the boys off and then went to join the masses of people all trying to get somewhere. It took me an hour and a half to get to work (normally a 30 min drive). When I finally got to work, it was meetings all day. At least one of them was a birthday celebration with ice cream floats!

(9/11) Day off for me and school for the boys. D's teacher was ready to put me to work this morning, so I stayed at school until his lunchtime. We had a fire drill, did some vocab, and I traced patterns for an upcoming project. Once I was done at school, I went out and collected our shirts for my work's participation in the Day of Caring on Friday. We had a pretty chill rest of our day with no appointments.

(9/12) Work day for me, school for the boys, and day off for Dad. I got all the snacks and tent (please no rain!) ready to go for tomorrow's event. I'm excited!

(9/13) My work participated in the United Way's Day of Caring today. We worked at Holly House, which provides gifts for low-income families in a local school district. We packed and consolidated toys to make room for more to come. It's one of my favorite days! Our group went out for lunch afterward and I got home a little earlier than normal and may have squeaked in a quick nap.

(9/14) I hit Zumba this morning and then came home to hang with the kiddos until Dad woke for the day. We went apple picking this afternoon at Bailey Farm. We bought a ton of honey crisps (my fave!) and I used a few to make an apple crisp this evening.

(9/15) Lazyish day for the boys and me. Nanan appeared this afternoon and stayed for dinner. It was good to chat!

(9/16) Work from home day for me, and school for the boys today. I had an eye appointment this morning, and D had to go in and get his nose rechecked this afternoon. The doc reportedly removed the "annoying booger", and I don't think we'll need to go back in. Fingers crossed.

(9/17) Today is work day for me and the boys had school. It's really starting to look like fall around here, and took me a good hour to get in to work. You'd think Seattlites would know how to drive in the rain, but alas, no.
