Presents & Pies

(9/20) Today was a work and school day for all of us. J had a rough day but was thrilled it was pizza night. Pizza always makes everything better!

(9/21) I had the day off today and had a medical appointment first thing. And because I really know how to party, I scheduled my covid & flu shots for this afternoon. It was super smoky out today, so much so that they kept the kiddos in at recess and D was running around in a mask inside our house. Thankfully it mostly cleared out and we were able to open the windows again.

(9/22) I worked in the building today which took up the bulk of my day. Dad had the day off. He and C have been battling colds this week, and all the smoke in the air lately certainly has not helped. Hopefully everyone's feeling 100% again soon.

(9/23) I worked in the building today and the boys had school. Noodle made sure that Dad didn't leave the couch while he was sick another day. Sure hope he's feeling better soon. J also sounds stuffy tonight. Ugh, plague be gone!

(9/24) I made another pie this morning. I ran out of shortening so the crust wasn't real pretty. But I'd say we have enough apples to do two more unless the apple monster (J) eats them all. Sarah and I went for a coffee walk midday and I asked her if she wanted to come to the Tips home opener tonight since the boys were all sick and/or didn't want to go. She said sure! Rob and Mel also picked up two of our tickets. We had fun tonight and the Tips won!

(9/25) I had the day off today and went to Zumba in the morning. The boys are still recuperating from their colds so had a day of naps and video games. I had book club this afternoon and got a few more books to add to my list.. Never mind that my TBR list is creeping toward 1,000 again. Dad had to work today, but we saw him this evening and enjoyed our Sunday night TV.

(9/26) Monday, Monday... School and work for all of us today. J was still croaking so we kept him home for the day. I'm ready for this crud to go away!

(9/27) J was mostly better so we sent him to school. He had a pretty cruddy day. Poor bubs; it's hard to get back into the swing of things. The rest of us had okay days. J spent some time without screens to hopefully reset his attitude for tomorrow.

(9/28) I had the day off today. I went to Zumba after the boys were off to school and work and came out to see that it had rained a little bit. We've needed it! I promised the boys that I'd bring Toffee to pick-up and she loved visiting with everyone. D's teachers even came out to meet her. We dropped her off and then headed for the store for their reward day and picked up a few goodies as well as dinner for the evening. The boys had their pictures taken at school so we'll soon get to update their mug shots on the wall.

(9/29) Sarah and I went for a walk before work today. I went into the building and Dad got the kiddos off to school. I went to curriculum night for the twins tonight and enjoyed chatting with their teachers. They're doing pretty well thus far. Fingers crossed that it continues!

(9/30) I worked in the building today and Dad had the day off. He went up and met a potential foster dog and brought him home. I'm a sucker for Aussies! We'll see how things go though. He has some hind end / neuro issues and is pretty snappy around other dogs. There was lots of growing and teeth showing, and the poor loaf hid in her crate. Sigh.

(10/1) The twins and I got packed to head to the grands' for an early birthday celebration for the twinadoes. They made graham cracker crust for their mousse tonight and ate it straight out of the oven. It's their favorite! I brought our bag of apples to see if Granddad might want to make a pie, since he is the master pie chef. While the twins and Grandma were cooking we got started on the pie. After dinner we carved pumpkins. Or rather J did! He gutted three of them by himself and then carved all four. He did such a great job! We did birthday desserts and watched Hocus Pocus tonight. It was really fun!

(10/2) Granddad said he was thinking about making another pie this morning, so I started peeling apples. We actually had enough for two more. While we were cooking Grandma bribed the boys to go out for a bit. They came home with Starbucks and treats. They made themselves lunch and then begged for ice cream. Grandma rules at Grandma's house! We packed up after that and meandered down to the ferry. By the time we boarded they were starving again. I bought them some popcorn to tide them over for the ride. We stopped at the beach on the other side to play for a bit and then headed on home. It was a great trip!

(10/3) Blah, it was smoky this morning so we skipped our morning walk. It's been so dry and hot for fall. I worked from home and Dad went in to work after taking J to his appointment.

(10/4) We all had work and school today. Dad popped home to send our foster boi on to what will hopefully be his last stop before adoption. It was much calmer in our house tonight and all the dogs were back to playing and cuddling like their normal goofy selves. I took advantage of not having to supervise doggie interactions and started decorating for Halloween. I found a new set of lighted skulls for out front too!

(10/5) I had the day off and after the men were off to work and school I went to Zumba. After class, I ran to the shelter to pick up another foster dog, who seems delightful so far. Paws crossed he gels with our puppies a little better.

(10/6) I went in to work today, Dad had the day off, and the kiddos had school. Our new doggo isn't keen on his crate which resulted in not a lot of sleeping last night. He got a bath though and we asked if J would like to have a cuddle puppy for the night. J readily agreed and tonight went a lot smoother.

(10/7) Today was certainly exciting, and not the fun kind of exciting! C was feeling off this morning and went in to the school nurse with a racing heart. EMS was called and he went right to the ER where more tests thankfully came back as normal. We'll have a few more appointments coming up here to make sure we're in the clear. I was at work during all this but Dad kept me updated throughout the day. Eeps, kid!

(10/8) We planned to celebrate the twinsies' birthday today. We went to the Japanese steakhouse for teppanyaki and a show. Dinner was delicious and we had such a fun time! Our chef was amazing with his tricks and humor. We went home and did presents--J has been SO excited to get a wagon (he has big plans for Halloween and filling it to the brim). The kiddos requested Polar Pizzas for dessert and then we did more presents with Nanan during our nightly call.

(10/9) J was up and at em early this morning. He wanted to be out with his wagon before the sun had even completely risen. Such a goofus! We had a pretty lazy day other than that. C has been feeling fine all weekend and will have an appointment tomorrow.

(10/10) We all had work and school today. I ran C in for his appointment this morning and then out for some breakfast before running him to school. Dad took the twinsies in to school and to J's appointment and then headed out to work. Other than all that, it was a pretty normal Monday.

(10/11) Happy birthday, twinsies! I sent them off to school with goodies and went upstairs to work. Nanan came to pick them up and had planned to take them to ice cream, but the herd decided on teriyaki instead. C got to drive Nanan to the restaurant and show off his driving skills. He did a great job! Nanan joined J at the park where he took his wagon down to play with his buddies. He had a rough day at school, so hopefully all that helped smooth over some of the bumps of the day.

(10/12) I had the day off today and went to Zumba after the kiddos went to school. Then I came home and crashed on the couch for a few hours. His Royal Oodleness as been with us for five years as of today, and we celebrated by napping all afternoon. Today was D's turn for a rough day. Normally we make a store run on Wednesdays after school, but his leg hurt, he was starving, and it was just a crummy day, so we came home and fed him and then I went to the store for candy. He's had way more good days than bad and will have a shot at redeeming himself tomorrow.

(10/13) I worked at work today, the boys had school, and Dad had the day off. Noodle continued his rough day from yesterday and spent it napping. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

(10/14) I worked in the building again today and Dad and the boys had the day off. Lucky kiddos scored a three day weekend since their teachers had an in-service day. They spent the day doing what they love most: video gaming.

(10/15) Dad and C went up to Rob's to work on the cars this morning. The twins and I had a pretty quiet morning. I lounged around and read my book and they video gamed. I was monitoring the pitchers' dual off an on and then turned it on in the bottom of the 9th. The Mariners haven't made the playoffs in 21 years and today proved to be quite the ballgame! They were still playing when Sarah and I went to the hockey game tonight. And they were still playing into the second period. Sarah and I kept an eye on the play by play while the Tips were busy getting creamed. The M's sadly lost in the *18th* inning. What a season they had! Sarah and I gave up on the Tips when they were scored on ten times and went home early.

(10/16) The boys and I had a pretty lazy Sunday. It was smoky out today, so while I ran out to grab more mulch, I decided against doing anything with it. I'm sure ready for some rain to come clear all this junk out. I can't believe I'm still watering the plants and we're halfway through October!

(10/17) We all had work and school today. I took the twins costume shopping this afternoon. D was irritated that I took him away from his game and then was overwhelmed by the choices at the store. It took us 40 minutes, but $80 later we came away with black and black with eyes. I threatened to hang glowy things off them so I could find them.

(10/18) Work and school for all of us today. Sarah and I met for our dark thirty walk but made it a shorter one as we could feel the air quality getting worse.

(10/19) I got to chaperone a field trip to The Farm at Swan's Trail. The fourth graders in J's class are learning about WA State history, and the corn maze out at the farm is all the roads in WA. The kids were given maps with different areas highlighted and they had to figure out which roads to take to get there and then answer a question about their destination. I let the kids lead, and we got lost a bunch, but we managed to find all our spots, and I didn't lose anybody out in the maze. We had lunch and then watched the duck races. I haven't been out to the farm in years (since I chaperoned the twinsies as preschoolers), and it was really fun to go back with my big kid.

(10/20) I attempted to work in the building today but it was so smoky we all bailed within 30 minutes. I have never anticipated the rain so much. It's supposed to be tonight or tomorrow. We sure need it! Dad brought home a new foster doggo today. He's so tiny! He seems to be ouchy though, so a vet visit is definitely in order. The twins had horrible days so I kicked them off screens and of course was the most horrible Mom EVER. I think we all just need some good quality sleep and that will improve things.

(10/21) I woke up this morning and could finally breathe! The promised rain arrived a little later in the morning and it was nice to watch from my office window. The boys had a much better day today and were happily video gaming when I got home.

(10/22) Dad and I took the pooches to Howl-o-ween put on by the rescue that we foster for. We hung out for a bit and then headed out to find some lunch. We went back and put in for a couple cute raffle baskets but didn't win. The puppies had fun and Cass got to play one of his favorite things: bubbles!

(10/23) I met my office ladies to go check our the venue for our holiday party. We tasted the wines there and then went around the corner to my wine club. After tasting there we went to find somewhere to brunch. We ended up at the Rusty Pelican and had some amazing grub. We capped off the day with one more winery and then headed home.

(10/24) Back to work and school with all of us today. I started my morning off bookended by Chihuahuas. Life is rough. I eventually dragged myself away and went upstairs to work.

(10/25) Work and school for all of us again today. The twins had good days at school and were excited to come home, play video games, and have pizza as is our Tuesday tradition.

(10/26) I had the day off today and went to Zumba this morning. Dad took our current foster pup to the shelter to be reunited with his family (yay!) and I picked up a new foster this afternoon. Poor buddy was so scared and shook all the way home. He has made himself right at home with our doggos and Toffee even invited him to play after only a few minutes. He's pretty nervous about new people, but seems to make friends fast, especially if they have cheese.

(10/27) I worked in the building today and left before everyone was up. It's definitely fall now and this was the last sunset after 6p until March 5th. Sigh. Time to drag out the portable sun!

(10/28) My office has been having a spirit week this week and today was pajama day. The internet went out in our building mid-morning and since we were planning to head to Margaret's house this afternoon, we just headed there early and used her wifi. She stopped and grabbed us a pizza for lunch and at the end of our day, we made sure we liked the wine we bought for our party next month. It was a really fun afternoon!

(10/29) I slept in a little this morning and then got up with the puppies. Once Dad got back from running errands, I went to Michael's to pick up a replacement frame for the one I accidently broke. They were having a sale so I got two replacements. Now I just need more pictures to fill it. Dad bought some pumpkins while he was out and J carved them. J tried a design from one of the carving kits and did a great job! I scrounged around for enough batteries for their lights and am really happy with all of this year's decorations.

(10/30) The boys and I had a pretty chill Sunday. I argued with the grape vine whose trellis keeps trying to fly away and then I settled in to read my book. I met up with the book club ladies this afternoon and have another half dozen books to read. I was telling them that I'm impressed that my TBR pile is less than 1,000 these days. I discovered that I had enough promotional rewards to get a copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas for free and put that on. The dogs kept going bonkers every time Zero barked. It was pretty funny.

(10/31) Happy Halloween! Dad took the day off so he could be home this evening. The kiddos have half days this week for conferences and J had his appointment today so we just brought him home afterward instead of returning him for the last hour. He was so excited about Halloween that he was up at 2am, so it probably was a good thing he stayed home. We trick-or-treated with Sarah's fam and it stayed dry for about half the time. D was so very done when it started raining and we hightailed it on home after we went to see the Irwin lights. They put on such an amazing show! We only had about a dozen trick-or-treaters and have plenty of leftover goodies.

J chose the shadow with eyes
This is D in his shadow costume

(11/1) It's The Loaf's second birthday today and Casserole celebrates his 9th gotcha day with us tomorrow. Quite a bit of wisdom fur in that muzzle now. All the doggos got to partake in the birthday bone. I took Toffee to meet the kids at school today and she got loved on a bunch. She was so happy.
