Church of the Epic Fail

J: I just knew it liquidy-split!

J: Dad! I made you a Father's Day present!  You're gonna love it so much you're gonna marry it!
Dad to me: Sorry. (shrugs)

Me: I think I put too much horseradish in the spicy eggs.
Dad: I approve!
D: I taste too much Miracle Whip.

Their St Helens lava lamp was erupting ~
D: IT'S SCIENCING!

(5/30) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the boys. C looked rough this morning, and said he was up coughing all night. Poor bubs. He stayed home and looked a little better when I got home this evening. Dad made us strawberry shortcake tonight--you know--for the vitamin C.

(5/31) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the boys. Just three more weeks of school left ~ so close we can almost taste it!

(6/1) I went to Zumba this morning with Sarah. C went to a movie with Nanan, and we attempted to take the twins out for some fun, but failed. D really wanted to go to the spray park, only the Pride festival was at the park (which would have been fun, but we were dressed to play in the water), so we double-backed and went to the lake, only it was closed off for the junior hydro races. Dad and I thought those were cool, and the twins were still able to play at the park, but weren't able to swim. We stopped and got them Slurpees to at least end the afternoon on a good note. Nanan joined us for dinner tonight, and she and C had had a great time playing video games in addition to watching the movie.

(6/2) Lazy day for the boys and me, and Dad had to work.  We met Sarah and co this evening at the lake, and then came home for dinner. Then it was on to normal Sunday night things like homework and getting ready for the week ahead.

(6/3) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys. I worked from home today and enjoyed one of my last days of peace before the kiddos are home with me.

(6/4) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the kiddos today. Meeting Tuesday was as usual fairly busy with meetings. By the time I get home, it's just a short while until the madness that is the homework/dessert/YouTube/bedtime routine.

(6/5) Day off for both Dad and me today, and we did fun things like take a kiddo to the doctor (him), volunteer in the twinsies' classes (me), and go to a school meeting (both). Good news on all the fronts, and hopefully our poor barking seal (C) will feel better soon.

(6/6) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the boys. Today was a busy-work kind of day, and I got a lot done. I'm excited for a 3-day weekend coming up!

(6/7) Oh today... The boys had an early release, and the plan was to go camping. We got all loaded up, and pretty much headed right out the door once they were home. We got up to the site and it started to rain, which we expected, but hoped would miss us. We got the tent set up, and the mattresses blown up during some lulls. We discovered a leak in the top of the tent, and managed to fix that after some further adjustments. We made dinner in the rain, took the dogs for a couple walks in the rain, and I read my book while the kiddos video gamed in the car where it was dry. The kids were getting a bit restless after a few hours of that, so we broke out UnoSpin. We discovered the waterproof part of our tent that sticks out under the fly was not so waterproof anymore, and we had water coming in all the corners. We decided to pack home over being wet and cold tonight. We told the kids they could camp in the living room in an attempt to make up for our disaster of a trip.

(6/8) Today was--of course--dry and Sarah and I walked to Zumba and coffee.  I took Dad to Lowe's so he could pick out his Father's Day present: a new barbecue! We took the kids to see The Secret Life of Pets 2, which was adorable. After the movie, Dad grilled us up some surf n turf ~ yum! We took the kids to the lake to fish, but didn't have any luck. It was still fun though.  Once we came home,  it was campfire and s'mores time!

(6/9) Dad and C went fishing this morning and picked up donuts for all of us. I slept in until they got home and D busted in to tell me I needed my donut RIGHT NOW! I went for a walk to coffee and listened to my book. We figured we'd hit the beach at low tide today, but the boys voted on Willis Tucker Spray Park instead. Worked for me!  We stayed until it was dinner prep time, and Dad made us another surf n turf picnic to enjoy outside. We capped off the night with another campfire and s'mores.

(6/10) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the kiddos.  The boys are so.very.done with school. At least the twins had their field day today, so there was something to which they could look forward.

(6/11) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the kiddos. Pretty much the normal jam for a Tuesday.

(6/12) Day off for Dad & me today. It was my last day volunteering in both classes today. Sniff, sniff! I really do love it! I assembled some stuff for D's teacher, and helped with math groups in J's. Both D & C had appointments after school, and once we were finally done and home, we got dinner on and did our normal weekday stuff.

(6/13) I got to chaperone the twins' field trip to the zoo today.  I had five kiddos from D's class (including D), and then met up with the mom supervising J's group, and got to have him too.  We had a great time!  I didn't get too many pictures, but I also didn't lose any kids, so I'm gonna call it a win!

(6/14) I had a dentist appointment this morning, so went in late to work today. It was a pretty quiet day and I got a lot done.  Dad had the day off and the kiddos had school. Just one week left! No more homework ~ huzzah!

(6/15) We got on the road pretty early today and headed down to see Mt St Helens. The observatory was so cool, and we watched a video of the eruption, looked at the interactive map, made our own earthquakes, and took a short hike up the ridge to get an awesome view of the mountain.  We picnicked down at Coldwater Lake, which was formed after the eruption. There were tons of fish fry in the water, and there must have been a fly fishing event because there were a ton of boats out on the water.  It was absolutely beautiful! Traffic on the way home was awful, and we ended up taking a "long cut" rather than a short one. We stopped and had dinner at Jersey Mike's, since there was no line, and everyone likes it there!  We got home late, but it was so worth it.

(6/16) Happy Father's Day!  We picked up the teenager on the way to Uncle Jake's, and got to hang out for approximately two hours before she was called into work. I ran her to work, while Dad, Granddad, Uncle Jake and Jason hung out and chatted. Amber wasn't feeling so hot when we got there, and by the time I got back, Isley had gone upstairs too. Hope nobody else gets sick!  After hanging at Jake's, we headed home when S called and said she was done at work.  We gave her a ride back to her friend's house, but they weren't going to be there that night, so she ended up coming home with us. So.much.driving! And us in the front saying "We're making happy memories!" through gritted teeth.  Other than that, it was a great day, and we really did have fun!  D finally lost a tooth that has been loose for about a month now... and then I promptly left it on the table when I packed up.  Uncle Jake hid it under a pillow for us, and the Tooth Fairy magically delivered to our house.

(6/17) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys. Dad drove S back home so she could go to work. I hope we can all get together again soon!

(6/18) Unfortunately C & J are home sick today so I worked from home. Hope the plague passes quickly!
