Wintry Mix

(12/29) I ordered some new dishes and got them all washed and the old ones packed up. I really like them! J had an "epic breakfast" of coffee cake, pumpkin and apple pies. We had a lazy do-nothing day and it was perfect!

(12/30) We had the kids over for brunch and a late Christmas. W is a present-opening pro! He helped everybody unwrap and then was on to the next gift. We had Dutch babies for breakfast and the kids hung out for a few hours. It was lovely to catch up and spend some time with them! Dad broke out the cast iron and made us an amazing dinner tonight.

(12/31) Goodbye 2023! I got Christmas all packed up and my house looks so naked. Sigh. D had coupons for Wendy's that expired today so I took the boys to use them up for lunch. We drugged up Noodle because he cannot deal with the fireworks and are leaning toward doing the same for River and Cass for the 4th. We'll see. The neighborhood started celebrating early tonight, which meant stressy pups shortly after it got dark. I made sure to get the legal forms for work released this evening so they're all set for tomorrow. I expect the coming work week to be very busy. After that, we rang in the new year and hit the hay.

(1/1) Happy New Year! We went to a Silvertips game and rented a suite to celebrate Rob's 50th birthday. The Tips lost with six seconds remaining. Darn! It was so fun to catch up with everyone though. Some friends I haven't seen in years!

(1/2) Back to work and school for all of us today. I worked in the building and it was indeed a whirlwind day. I sure was ready to shut 'er down by the end of it. We took in a foster dog this evening but he wasn't able to settle and kept howling at full volume at random intervals all night, even when Dad was sitting with him. Not a lot of sleeping happened tonight.

(1/3) I had the day off today and finally decided to replace my laggy phone. May this new one serve me as long! I made up the Chinese food after the boys got home from school and D and I did the WinCo run to stock the kiddos back up on candy. The rescue thankfully had another respite home for our howly visitor and he rode up with C when he went to work. He was a cute lil booger, but we need our sleep!

(1/4) I woke up this morning and didn't have much of a voice so opted to work from home. Both C and Dad had medical appointments today. Fun, fun.

(1/5) Sarah and I walked this morning before work. This has been the longest short week and the day totally dragged for me. Our favorite comics released new podcasts so at least we had entertainment for the evening though!

(1/6) It was so nice to sleep in today! I got up and made breakfast for J and enjoyed my coffee in the quiet before the rest of the house got up. Dad made beef stew and it smelled so good simmering all day.

(1/7) The kids and I had a nice lazy day. J really wanted to try making cheese dippers for lunch. Dad found us a recipe and we made up a batch to go with tomato soup. They were pretty good and J had fun making them.

(1/8) We all had work and school today. Sarah and I skipped our morning walk since it was supposed to be gross out. The rain was looking rather chunky this morning while I was working and we're on snow watch this week! We all had a case of the Mondays today apparently. I heard from the school about all three kids and it was a day of putting out fires.

(1/9) I worked in the building today and the men had school and work. Everyone had a much better day today, thank goodness!

(1/10) I had the day off today and the men all had work and school. I gutted my closet this morning and took a bunch of bags to the donation center. I've had a bunch of the kids' old toys in there for who knows how long, but it was mostly my clothes. 😳 It's been a minute since I did it last.

(1/11) The promised snow didn't start until late afternoon. I was like a five year old that kept checking the windows at work. We were sent home a little early to avoid traffic and had a nice dusting by the time I got home. Looking at the radar the storm is headed south of us, but I'm still hoping for a pile of snow tomorrow!

(1/12) Brrr! It was a whopping 15°F this morning. All the boys were bummed that school was running on-time. C's car doors froze and he bent his key trying to get in this morning. He made it safely to school and back though. Phew! I ran J in for an orthodontist appointment this afternoon and worked from home today. We bribed C to build D's new desk tonight and D is really happy with it.

(1/13) It was even colder this morning: 11°! I made breakfast for the fam and we bummed around the house for most of the day. I braved J's room and intended to just go through his clothes but ended up cleaning his whole room too. Dad, C, and I went to the Small Dog Races at the Tips game tonight. I loved the lil pug that stopped a few feet before the finish line to say hi to the announcer.

(1/14) The boys and I had a lazy day and Dad had to work. I made a cherry pie and it turned out pretty decent. There was a pipe that burst at Dad's work and he had to wait around for the plumbers to come in, locate, and finally repair. Such a mess! I had book club this afternoon with the ladies. We really enjoyed this month's book! The Book of Hope by Jane Goodall. Such a fascinating woman!

(1/15) The boys and I had the day off for the holiday. I spent a good chunk of the day with my nose in a book. Once I finished it and verified that it was finally above freezing, I took a walk. It was gorgeous out!

(1/16) I worked in the building today and the boys had school. J got to go swimming with a friend this evening and had a blast!

(1/17) We woke up to everything coated in ice, but schools were running on-time. I ended up driving J because it was so slick out that it was difficult to walk. D woke up with a fever and stayed home from school today, but J and I still did the WinCo run and made sure to pick up D's favorite candy.

(1/18) Happy Birthday to Dad! I had the day off and was originally going to meet Nanan for an appointment, but she rescheduled due to the snow. The boys had a two hour late start so I let everyone sleep in. D was feeling poorly when he woke up so I called him out. J went to school but called just before class ended because he was feeling awful too. I hate it when they're sick! We ordered in poké to try and somewhat salvage the day.

(1/19) Both the twins were still feeling yucky and stayed home today. I worked from home, Dad had the day off, and C was the only one who went to school.

(1/20) We had to cancel our plans to celebrate Dad's birthday with my brother's fam today with the kiddos being sick. I went and grabbed a pie from the Pie Co and meatloaf for tonight's dinner. I also had to stop by the nursery since I was in the area and picked up some more creeping thyme to fill in some bare patches out front. I also brought out all the plants out from the garage since we're back above freezing.

(1/21) The boys and I had a pretty quiet day. I slept in and spent most of the day with my nose in a book. C is cleared to drive with his friends in the car and took them to a Tips game to celebrate. It was a great game and C had fun!

(1/22) Poor J woke up hacking up a lung and stayed home another day. Plague be gone already! I worked from home and the rest of the men had work and school.
