Fall Fun

D: Look!  It's five-dy-five out!

D: Mom, what time are you gonna do summersaults?
Me: Is never a good time?

J: MOOOOOOOOOM!!!! You need to help saving me!  When I fall down, you need to help saving me!

Referring to the back of his Iron Man costume, which was ripped ~
J: My back is just broken.

C: I really want to get a bird.
Me: Ferrets eat birds, bud.
C: Even a falcon?
Me: You can't keep a falcon in your room.  *lolz*

Me: Can you go up and get four sockies for you & J?
D: I can't.
Me: Why?
D: Because that gets my hands too much full.

Jor brought along a friend wearing a green shirt to Elevated Sportz ~
D: Jor can sleep in C's room, and Jamie can sleep in my room, and the green guy can just stay at his house!

D: There's a little Safeway right there.
(Pikachu's button looks like a Safeway symbol)
First day of fall!
(My favorite season)
(9/16) My heart is so, so happy today!  I went up for our teenager's adoption court today.  She was adopted by her grandma, and I couldn't be more thrilled for her, and that we still get to be in her life. I took her out for coffee before taking her to school, and gave her lots of hugs.  I headed back home and finished out my work from home day. It was Family Night at the twins' preschool this evening, so the littles and I went to that this evening, and C and Dad checked out the taqueria the boys keep pointing out.  He said it was delish!  C went to a friend's house this evening, and once the littles went down, it was totally quiet.

(9/17) Sarah and I met for Zumba and a long walk on the dreadmill this morning.  Since it was so gross out, we decided to take the boys to Elevated Sportz. Our plan was to have Sarah's boys come spend the night tonight so she and I could go to our 20th high school reunion pub crawl.  I took my yearbook to ES with me, and we studied the faces, and only remembered a handful.  We went back and forth about going, and ultimately decided not to, but we still had her oldest boy over for a sleepover.  A great discussion was sparked on the high school group that really pulled people out of the woodwork, and I'm hoping that by the next one, we'll all remember and know each other a little better, and then I'll go.

(9/18) Work day for Dad, and I had the boys.  We spent the morning lounging and the boys played a ton of video games.  C had hockey practice this afternoon.  One of the moms brought cupcakes for after practice, and that won the day.  We had a barbecue this evening with my siblings and their kiddos.  It's so fun to get together, and we're definitely going to aim for it to happen more often!

(9/19) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys.  C had hockey tonight, so Dad took him to that, and I went to Curriculum Night at his school.  I like his teacher a lot, and think he'll have a good year.  He's in a 3rd/4th split as a 4th grader.

(9/20) Work day for Dad and me, and the boys had school.  The twins got new "armor" (hockey equipment) fitted today. They start up in a few weeks.  Then we'll pretty much be living at the rink.  Oh boy, oh boy!

(9/21) Work day for Dad, and I had the boys.  C was cold this morning, and when I came down, he was wearing a tech tee, a long sleeve shirt, and his winter coat. He had watched the news, which said it was 47° out, so he decided that was appropriate.  LOL!  We saw C off to school, and then went to Zumba. After class, I ran the twins home for lunch, and then we went to preschool.

Ninjas & kitties.  LOL!

(9/22) Work day for me, and Dad had the boys.  I came home just in time to wave to Dad and C as they headed out for hockey practice.  The twinsies and I watched a little TV, and then I put them to bed, before turning on my "uplifting" shows (as Dad likes to tease).

I won't let him have a snack
15 mins before dinner.
This is how we watch TV.

(9/23) Work from home day for me, and Dad had the kids.  My work participated in the Day of Caring, so I met up with the rest of my work peeps out at McAuliffe Park in Kirkland this morning and pulled weeds for a few hours, raising $1,345 for the United Way.  They cut us loose early, so I got to go home to a fancy lunch (chowdah bowl + red wine).  Dad was making beef stew for dinner too, which smelled delightful, when I walked in the door.  I brought home some herb starts from the farm, so planted those outside.  I'll have to figure out a better planter for them, but they're in the dirt for now at least.

(9/24) I went on a long walk in the sunshine with Sarah this morning and ran into the teenager while we were out.  She got hugs from me, and missile kisses from Cass.  Both Dad and I ran errands this afternoon, and the boys had an ongoing Nerf war throughout the day.  Tonight we went to the Tips' home opener.  We won 3-1.  Whoop-whoop!

(9/25) Lazy day for me and the boys.  I finally convinced C to get dressed around 2pm and come bike riding with us. I sorted through twinsie clothes and weeded out all the 4T and under.  Sigh.  They're getting so big.  Dad asked if I had just thrown out all their socks so we could start over.  We have a mountain of socks, and I swear they breed when we're not looking.  But no, I matched 'em up, sent the too small ones along, and tossed any worn or ripped.  Victory was mine!

(9/26) Work day for Dad and me, and school for the boys.  Off & running for another busy week!  C has hockey tonight, the twinsies added up all the things they had to do today, and came up with five. Sounds about right.

Doesn't like dinner
