(8/1) Happy Birthday to me! I went up and spent the day with Nanan. We went to lunch and then I grocery shopped for her and C today since we haven't been able to get together this week. The store had 6" dahlias on sale for $3/piece, so of course I treated myself! Back at home, Dad and D got the tires changed on the (to be) twins' car.
(8/2) The twins and I went to the grands' to celebrate mine and Jake's birthdays. Dad unfortunately had to work, but he got to take advantage of the leftovers. We also got to meet my brother's fam's new puppy MEATBALL. Isn't he adorbs?
(8/3) I slept in a bit this morning and bummed around listening to a book. I'm off this week too, and it's been such a nice break.
(8/4) Sarah and I went for a walk before the smoke rolled in. Dad and D took the electronic recycling to RE-PC and D bought a new Wii. He claims this will be the last, but that's only because he's out of ports!
(8/5) Dad and I had the day off together. He brought me poke for a belated birthday lunch. Yum!
(8/6) I potted up my flowers and made a run for more dirt. Thankfully I didn't find anything else that needed to come home with me since space is scarce.
(8/7) D and I went to Another Castle and he got some new games for the Wii U he picked up. We had lunch at Chops and picked up sushi for J on the way home.
(8/8) I ran up to Nanan's today and we had breakfast out on the deck. Dad and D went back to Another Castle to get one of his games resurfaced. He also selected a "but did you die?" sticker for his car, which may or may not be a good omen?
(8/9) Dad and I had the day off together. We took Miss River to pick out some treats at Sam's and then to Howarth Beach. She was a very good girl at the farmers market, where we picked up a smoked salmon crepe to share.
(8/10) Back to the grind for me today. Luckily I got to start my week from home. It sure was rough waking up early again. Yawn!
(8/11) I worked in the building and Dad was off with the boys. J was having a rough go of things today, but pizza night did swing the tide.
(8/12) Dad's hobby has been delving into all our family's ancestry for quite some time. He put together a notebook of Nanan's family trees and notable people in her lineage. She absolutely loved it!
(8/13) I worked from home and Dad worked at work today. I obviously didn't get to working out fast enough as my bench developed a furball.
(8/14) I worked from home today, and Dad worked at work. I happened to look at my memories and realized that it was Noodle's 9th birthday! D and I took him to Sam's to get birthday cookies and a new toy.
(8/15) I had a day of sloth today. I slept in and spent the morning getting caught up on my favorite podcasts.
(8/16) Dad was off so I asked him if he wanted to run boring, grown-up errands with me. We shopped for C and drove up his groceries. After unloading, we grabbed Nanan and took her to the Bertlesen Winery for lunch and wine tasting in the sun.
(8/17) I worked from home today and Dad was home with the boys. He's actually had a steady schedule in terms of days off for a bit. It's been a nice change!
(8/18) I worked in the building today and Dad was off with the boys. It was a light day of meetings with so many people being on vacation. Quiet Tuesdays are rare gems.
(8/19) I had the day off and didn't have a lot on my schedule other than J's appointment. We got sushi and our other Wednesday treats, and had a chill day.
(8/20) Dad and I had work today. One of C's kittens hasn't been doing so well these last few weeks so he made him a vet appointment. A long and scary afternoon summed up, they think he has FIP. He was sent home with fluids and anti-nausea meds while we wait for his test results. C is super bummed and we're looking at a long and expensive treatment, but the outcome looks good. So fingers and paws crossed!
(8/21) I worked from home for a while and then went up to Nanan's. I had the plumber out again to show him where the leak was coming from only to turn everything on again and have nothing happen. So frustrating! Finally, after opening up the ceiling some more, he eventually found the leak and they'll be out next week to repair it for good. C, F, and D all went down to visit Opa and Cherissa. They're going to the watermelon festival tomorrow!
(8/22) I went up to hang with Nanan for a bit today and take care of the chickens. The kids came home really late and got up close and personal with the Colwash fire. D was a little rattled that it was *right there*.
(8/23) Dad and I took the kittens home this morning so I could take care of Lime's meds and let the kids sleep a little. Once the evil lady (me) was gone, the kitties settled back in quickly.
(8/24) I worked up at Nanan's today so I could help take care of the cat and meet the plumber. Lime seems to be feeling way better! As we were discussing his anti-nausea pill, he hunted and caught a bug. Guess that answers that question! The plumbing gremlin has now (hopefully) been vanquished for good, and it should stop raining downstairs!
(8/25) I took the day off to take care of a bunch of things today. I spoke with the twins' new teacher and they're figuring out what class is going to look like for them. We agreed that the full student-led orientation was going to be too much and that we'll meet next week for a quieter intro to the school. I went up to Nanan's to do the kitty's meds, and C roped me into helping to spread gravel and dig out blackberries this afternoon. Shew! That was a lot of work!
(8/26) I had the day off today. I ran up to give C's kitty his last injection and then came home. J had an appointment this afternoon and picked sushi for lunch afterward. No complaints here!
(8/27) Dad and I both had to work today. He worked late so I got caught up on my trashy shows without the colorful commentary.
(8/28) I worked at home and Dad worked at work today. It has been a long week and I was ever so glad to have an uneventful day.
(8/29) Lime was acting ouchy this morning so I met C at work to pick him up. I accidentally clicked on the wrong vet's hours and thought they were open today, but no such luck. I couldn't find anything obviously wrong so didn't rush him into emergency. He was acting totally fine this evening though and I was able to pet him all over. Maybe he just wanted a vacation?
(8/30) Dad and I had the day off together and we went out for a wander. We drove down to the Ballard Locks and watched the boats and salmon for a bit and then went out for lunch at Sababa. We capped off a lovely day with a NW berry cream pie from the Pie Co.
(8/31) This was my last Monday working from home for a few months since we switch to our fall schedules. Dad was off, and he got the boys up at 6a to get them ready for school starting on Wednesday. They were NOT HAPPY. Wish us luck...
