An Affinity for Pizza

J: When you see a blue light, you have to get pizza for dinner for affinity days!
D: And I see a blue light!
Me: What if you already have pizza and see a blue light?
J: Then you just get more. And if you want something else, you just have to have pizza.

Me: Whatever is covered by your swim shorts is a private part, and no one else should see that but you.
J: Yeah! Except for when you're invisible.
Bwahaha!

Me: My car is the coffee car!
J: But you can't lick or taste it.
Me: Aww...

S: I told the boys they had to stay in the same room because I'm not a mom and don't have eyes in the back of my head.

C: I'm going to drink this Gatorade because I know it has electrons in it!

On Pop Rocks ~
J: They taste like toothpaste!  So Mom, I don't need to brush my teeth tonight.
Me: Oh yes you do!
D: It's not for your teeth; it's for your tongue!

D's favorite new cereal is the "powerful marshmallow cereal."  It's like Lucky Charms mixed with Captain Crunch.

D: Socks is gonna come back as a baby, and then we will have him again! S telled that to me.

(6/2) Happy Donut Day!  It was a work day for me, but alas we did not plan for donuts. Dad saved the day by getting donuts for us all later though. He went up and fetched the teenager for the weekend so we can get in a little driving practice. Eeps!

(6/3) S and I took the twins to swim lessons, and came home to find only C, as Dad had gone off fishing by himself. C had a skate clinic this evening, so S, the twins, and I had a movie night, complete with sundaes with all the fixins!  C inhaled a heavy dinner right before he got on the ice and ended up not feeling well for the second half. Poor bubs.

(6/4) We got on the road early for part two of C's skate clinic.  He was feeling much better this morning, thankfully!  The Kent Valley Ice Center is awesome ~ there was a mini golf course and an arcade.  D had the best time "rock climbing" the mountain out on the course.  Once we got home, I checked in on our kitty, who has not been doing well these last few months.  I've been dreading this day, and have been waiting for him to tell me that it was time.  We all said our goodbyes, and I took him in.  He's been with us for the last 16 years, and has been a wonderful companion.

(6/5) Work day from home for me, and Amanda had the twins.  I ended up getting off work early because it was my company's golf tourney today.  I picked up the twins and took them to swim lessons, and then to the spray park.  D had a blast "powering up" the park, and would hit the sensors as soon as the water stopped.  C's new backpack arrived today in the mail, and he was absolutely ecstatic.  He filled his pack with snacks, his school stuff, and other supplies to keep him entertained.  It weighed a ton, but he was convinced he was good with it.

(6/6) Bonus day off for me so the twins and I went to Howarth Park to play on the trails & beach.  It was a beautiful day today!

(6/7) It's my regular day off today, and the twins and I hit the gym, and then went to hide some rocks at Narbeck.  C had an appointment tonight, and I got to spend a little quality time with him today too.

(6/8) Work day for me, and Dad had the boys.  I picked up some blue hair dye for the C-monster, and was excited to get it home to him, and then got stuck in an hour and half of gnarly accident traffic. We dyed his hair, but his scalp took up more of the dye than his hair, and his hair has sort of a blueish-gray tinge.  I'll lighten his hair first and try again.

(6/9) Work day for me, and Dad had the boys.  I got home in a flash compared to last night. After the boys went down, I had the TV to myself and got caught up on my stories.

(6/10) The twins completed their Saturday session of swim lessons. I have them in two level one classes concurrently because the pool's summer sessions just don't work with our schedule, and we need to cram it all in before we hit the water park next month.  They actually mastered almost everything, and are really doing well!  I let them play at the spray park after their lesson, and then we came home.  We celebrate one year in this house as of tomorrow, so ordered in from Olive Garden tonight.  Yummo!

(6/11) Work day for Dad, and the boys and I had a lazy day.  We bummed around the house for the morning, and decided on the lake for the afternoon.  It was a bit chilly out (high 60s), but my guys are like ducks ~ straight in the water!  Sarah and her boys joined us later, and it gave us a chance to catch up.

(6/12) Work day for Dad & me, school for C, and the boys were with Amanda.  The twins got to go to the beach today.  Lucky kiddos!

If You Give a Denton a Cookie...

D: Why do we always have to do projects?
Me: I'm doing a project because it's fun, but if you would like to do one too, I'll set ya up.

C: You know why I keep buying lots of toys? I need to know what it's like for when I make lots and lots of money!

C: I'm gonna start a lawn mowing business! How much am I gonna get?
....
C: It's too hot, so I'm gonna stop.
Me: Halfway through? So I get half your money?
C: Yeah.

J: And Mom, I don't have any listening ears on, only screen time ears.

D: Isaiah always pulls hair.
Me: Yeah, sometimes babies do that.
D: But not boss babies! And Carlitos is a boss baby because he can talk!

Me: With a name like Dinner Bone, I think we should have YOU for dinner!
J: NOOOOOOOOO!! Dinner Bones aren't for dinner!
D: Yeah, Dinner Bone and Kitty! That's my new name: Kitty!

D: What if we got a box of M&Ms?
Me: I don't know, what if?
J: Do you like Donald Trump?
Me: No.
J: Well, sometimes Donald Trump is in the box of M&Ms.
Me: Then we're not buying them.

J: Some guys call you Megan. I just call you Mom.
D: Yeah, and Jimmy calls you Megan.
Me: You think so? Does he call you Denton or DD?
D: He calls me by my old name and I don't want him to!
Me: He calls you DD?
D: Yeah, and I only want him to call me by my new name!
Me: And how do you know that he calls you DD?
D: He just calls me DD.
Me: Huh. J, does he call you Jensen or Dinner Bone?
J: Uhm, Dinner Bone.
D: Yeah, and kitties don't talk, Mom.

J: I'm gonna show you how to count to infinity!
...
J: Infinity!

(5/20) C & Dad went fishing this morning while the twins and I were at swim lessons.  Dad & Granddad took the little boys fishing this afternoon for their turn.  Nobody caught anything, and we even had fishing donuts!  All my men were supposed to be camping this weekend, but with two of 'em down with the crud, they stayed home and camped out on our deck.  Our tent is bigger than the patio, and just barely fits.  We had the first fire of the season tonight, complete with Reese's PB Cup s'mores. Om nom nom!

(5/21) C went up for a lacrosse tournament with a buddy today.  He was coming off being sick for the past few days, and with the weather swinging to suddenly hot, he didn't have much in the tank.  He played part of his first game and watched the second from the shade.  The twins and I went up to work at Nanan's while he was at his game.  We did lots of yard work today, and D thoroughly watered everything.  It was hot, so that was the perfect activity.  Dad went home early feeling crummy today.  Poor guy, hope he feels better soon.

(5/22) Work from home day for me, school for C, and the twins were with Amanda.  D decided he didn't want to be outside at all because it's too hot.  HA!  That boy is a PNW boy through and through.

(5/23) Work day for me, sick day for Dad, school day for C, and the twins were with Amanda. We're scattered all over today.  The twins got to go to the PlayHappy Cafe today and they had a ball.  And it was inside, so D was happy.  They went to McTeacher Night at McDonald's and had chicken nuggets for a good cause.  Twist their arms.

(5/24) Work day for Dad and the twins were with me.  We hit the gym, and then went to the children's museum since it was intermittently gross outside.

(5/25) Work day for me, and Dad had the boys.  They had a pretty epic lazy day today. Just what the doctor ordered.

(5/26) Work day for me, and Dad had the kids today. He took the twins for haircuts and they each picked out new styles.  After they were back home, J said he couldn't lean back because he loves his new haircut and wants it to stay that way forever (they had gelled the top back).  The boys looked really adorable!

(5/27) After swim lessons this morning, and reveling in the spray park being open, we packed up and went to Blackmans Lake to go fishing. I used to go there a lot as a kid to feed the ducks (yeah, I know it's not allowed now...), but it was fun to be back.  There's now a great play structure that's perfect for bored twins. We didn't catch any fish, but had fun, and that was the point.

(5/28) The boys and I took a field trip up to Nanan's to do some work at her house.  C mowed her lawn while I helped move around some heavy things.  Once we were done, we hit the beach.  It's so beautiful today!  I just love it!

(5/29) Happy Memorial Day!  While the boys screen-timed this morning, I painted up a bunch of rocks for us to hide later.  D decided he wanted to paint too, so he finger-painted, and fancied up a shell.  It turned out really pretty!  After lunch, C mowed the lawn and I edged it, and then we got the pool out since it was HOT out (finally!).  The boys had a great time playing in the water.  Dad even brought us Slurpees this afternoon.

(5/30) Work day for Dad & me, and the boys were with Amanda.  My work had a blood drive today complete with a big ol' blood mobile out in our parking lot.  I worked the cantina and did the whole "thanks for the blood, here's your cookie" thing in the morning, went to a few meetings, and then went out to donate myself.  I timed it just right so that it was time to leave once I got done.

(5/31) We ended up being very busy today.  D declared it a lazy day, but also wanted to bake cookies. We were out of chocolate chips, so I grudgingly got out of pajamas and got going.  We stopped at the gym for Zumba, then went to the store for chocolate chips.  Then went to Narbeck to have snacks (because apparently that's what one does at Narbeck).  We got home and had to have lunch with the watermelon we bought because we forgot it last time.  The recipe on the back of the chocolate chips bag was for brownies, so then we had to make brownies.  While the brownies were cooking, we watered all the plants.  It finally turned sunny outside, so we left early for swim to play at the spray park. After swim lessons, since we were already wet, we went back to the spray park. When we finally got home, the boys needed dinner.  And since the boys had a good dinner, they wanted a brownie to go with it.

(6/1) Goodness, June already?!  This year is flying.  Work day for me, and Dad has the boys.  The boys, of course, wanted to start their day with a brownie.  I put Dad in charge and scurried out the door.
