Week One

Happy Birthday, D!
(10/13) What a blur these last few days have been.  It looks like we'll be discharged today after D's car seat monitor.

Both boys are sleeping on the end of the bed as I type this.  We got as much sleep as you can get when you're checked on virtually every hour.  The staff has been great, but I can't wait to be home!

Update from home:  Melissa came over, made us tuna casserole, and let us catch a few winks.  Nanan and C walked/biked to the park and entertained themselves, so we had a pretty quiet house all things considered.

Happy Birthday, J!
(10/14) It is wonderful to be home! The first night went really well and we all ended up sleeping until 9am. I'm sure that won't be the norm, but it was sooo needed.

We had a nice day visiting with friends that came over and generally just taking it easy.  Jay and Sarah B visited, made lunch, and played with C.  Then Sarah L came over with baby Jamie ~ it's hard to believe that there's the same age gap between C & Jor that there is between the babes and Jamie.  She also brought Sbux & brownies.  Mmm, recovery food!

(10/15)  Not so much sleeping was done last night.  Both boys decided they would rather be up eating all night instead.  We had their weight checks this morning and J is back at birth weight and D has gained 100g since leaving the hospital.  He's still at a 7% loss from birth weight, but with the amount of eating that was happening last night, I can't say I'm worried.

We have noted that J is a bit of a sprinkler ~ we've gone through lots of sleepers and cloth dipes to catch the sprays here at home. Brilliant Mom takes extra diapers and wipes to the check today.  Do I grab an extra sleeper?  'Course not!  Just when we thought it was safe to re-dress, he gets his outfit below him.  Poor baby boy had to ride home in just a dipe and a blanket.  Did I mention it was like 40° out?  Mom fail.

We came home after the appointment and I took a nap with the boys for a few hours and am feeling more human.   Dad took C to hockey and then came back and did the same thing.  I hope tonight goes better!

Granddad and Grandma have C for the night, and the twins and I are hanging out.  Well, they're sleeping, I'm blogging, and Dad is downstairs playing the Xbox.  They let us have a dinner break together and watch a little TV.  Kathy brought us some fab chili and cornbread.  We have such nice friends!

(10/16) Yay for a lazy Sunday!  C came back from Granddad's mid-morning and we all did a whole lot of nothing including some TV watching and napping.  The boys are sleeping in three hour chunks and I definitely think we've out-grown the preemie diapers.  Let's just say we've done A LOT of laundry!  Well, Dad has, anyway. I haven't done a whole lot other than give him more laundry to do.

C is off to Jordan's house for a sleep-over tonight, so it's just us and the little bits.

C REALLY wants to help/be involved with the babies and doesn't seem to understand that babies are pretty boring (to a 4 year old).  But he's adjusting.  I have a feeling evening/bedtime is going to get real interesting around here this week with Dad back at work.

(I0/17) Well, the routine needs tweaking, that's for sure.  Yesterday, they boys slept well allllll day until around 11pm and then were *awake* until 2am.  Yawn!  Once we got them down, they stayed down til 8:30a.

We ventured outside today to exchange the preemie diapers that Granddad and Grandma stocked us with, and hit Dad's work to meet his coworkers.  We'll hit mine soon too; promise, coworkers!

We'll endeavor to keep the little boys awake a little longer today in hope that they sleep better tonight.  Dad goes back to work tomorrow, so wish me luck!  Although, nanny Kathy will be kidnapping C for a while during the day, so that will be one less munchkin to juggle.

Thanks Rob for the pics!  They turned out so cute!
