Water Babies

D: I'm gonna be hungry when it's time for dessert.
Dad: You already had dessert.  The pie was your dessert.
J&D: NO!  It was our SNACK!

D: I want you to go to the store.
Me: Go to the store? Why?
D: To get more money.  You need to get more money to buy the things that you want.

J: You can only call me JJ on Wednesdays. Other days you have to call me Jensen.

D: My brain is excited to go on vacation! Mom, you have three brains, right? Are they all excited? J says excited means dinnertime, but excited means anywhere you want to go.

D: Was J in the world before me?
Me: No, you were born two minutes before him.
D: Then why is he taller and stronger than me?
Dad: You boys are going to grow at different rates. When J is skating and falls down, he doesn't give up and gets right back up.
Me: D, you use your brain a lot, and had more words before J.
J: Yeah, I lose my brain a lot.

Playing Uno ~
D: I need more black cards!

D: I can't change the color of my brains! They're just rainbow colored!

D: Today is Nanan's birthday! Yesterday was just his card day.

Me: You boys need a bath!
J: NOOOOOOO!  Jensen smells like good!

D: Mom, can you tell Dad, "Don't give Denton fish. Only give him candy for dinner."

J: NO CASS!  Stop being crazy!

(4/1) Dad went and picked up the teenager this morning.  She got signed up for driver's ed today.  Hold me.  She babysat the boys, and a bonus puppy that Dad's coworker dropped with us this weekend.  Dad and I got to go for a lovely date day.  We started at Acropolis for lunch, and then went wine tasting at DiStefano's in Woodinville.  It happened to be next to JP Trodden, which does small batch bourbon.  We sampled there, and tried their syrup, and wow.  We bought a bottle, which we're hiding from the kids. From there, we hit Locust Cider, and had a tasting there.  I love hard ciders, and there were 13 to choose from.  It was lovely to spend the day out with my guy!

(4/2)  The boys and I spent a lazy morning in.  I let them play video games because the weather was being capricious.  We attempted to go ride bikes after lunch, and got most of the way to the park, and it opened up and dumped on us.  Since we were already wet, I took them to the swim center to play.  I treated them to pie from the Snohomish Pie Co afterward, and completely spoiled their dinners.

(4/3) Work from home day for me.  Grandma came and grabbed the boys to take them back to her house for egg dyeing.  They were done in record time, and "only" did up 10 dozen!  The teenager and I went over for dinner after I got done with work and had some family time.

(4/4) Work day for Dad & me, and the boys all went to Amanda's.  I found D in J's bed this morning, and J was a huge grump, so I imagine somebody didn't get enough rest.  Early to bed for twinsies today!

(4/5) Happy birthday, Nanan!  Nanan came over, and the boys and I took her to go see Boss Baby. It was the twins' first movie, and they did really well.  Neither was keen on wearing their 3D glasses, and D moaned about "so many ads!" (previews).  J wandered a bit, but it was fine since we were close to the only ones there.  Nanan stayed with the boys this afternoon while Dad & I went off to Seattle to meet up with some friends we haven't seen in too long. We had a great evening with lots of laughs!

(4/6) We're headed to the beach!  We got all packed up and headed to Grayland, where we stayed in an Airbnb.  Cute place just off the water.  We stopped at Westport Lighthouse State Park to play and fly kites before we checked in.  It was absolutely beautiful out!  We came back into town for dinner at Bennett's. They have some pretty awesome chowdah and fish & chips.

(4/7) We woke up to a crazy storm today. We decided on a drive in the rain, and wanted to go to Campbell Tree Grove, but got most of the way there, and there was a tree down.  We drove around some other forest service roads and ended up at Wynoochee Lake/Dam, after a picnic lunch in the woods.  We drove back and stopped at Brady's Oysters for some seafood to cook up. The store lost power twice while Dad was making his purchase, so we crossed our fingers for power back at the house.  We never lost power, and Dad fixed up a feast of oysters, scallops, and some delicious cod.  We watched movies and played card games, and capped off a lovely evening together.

(4/8) Last day at the beach. Sadness.  It was pretty nice out, so after we cleaned up and locked up, we again drove on the beach before heading back home.  The storm sure frothed up the beach.  We stopped briefly so I could grab a handful of foam for the boys to touch, which didn't work as well as I thought, but oh well. The drive back was looooong, but my book was good, and the kiddos enjoyed the kajillion hours of screen time.

(4/9) Dad had to work today, but the boys, the teenager, and I went over for an early Easter at Grandma & Granddad's.  The boys had TONS of eggs to search for since they colored 10 dozen, plus there were nearly as many stuffed eggs.  They kept going out and bringing in more and more. The plush bunnies and walkie-talkies were a huge hit.  C let me know I wasn't doing a good job of "controlling the twins' sugar," through a mouthful of jellybeans.  I'm quite certain I heard a bus.  After a fun, family-filled Easter, I brought my sugar-crazed kiddos back, and we went over to Sarah's to burn some of it off.  I hauled all the wheeled things we own over, and predictably ended up carrying them most of both ways.  Thanks, kids.

(4/10) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the kiddos today.   Back to the grind!
