Puberty Stinks!

D: I could ask nicely instead of literally just saying, "Play my game!" Because literally--oh wait--I keep on forgetting I shouldn't say literally.
Me (laughing): Why shouldn't you say literally?
D: Because you don't need to say it!

C: Guess what we got to watch today!
Me: What?
C: The puberty video!
Me: In the video did they talk about using deodorant?
C: Yes. And when they did, my teacher kicked the back of my chair.

D: I smell something that smells stinky.
Dad: Is it Noodle's crate?
D: No, it smells like C's armpits!

Giving C the background before seeing Les Miz ~
C: Mooooooom!  No spoilers!

We found out D's teacher is teaching first grade next year, but even if he doesn't have her again, he says ~
D: Even if she's not my teacher next year, I'll still love her. Because I just really love her! 💗💗

J: I miss winter.
Me: You do, huh? Should we sign you up for snowboarding again?
J (unenthusiastic): Yeah...
Me: Hopefully we'll have some fun this summer too.
D: I want to go to Idaho!
Me: What did you like in Idaho?
D: The cabin door! (proceeds to tell me all about pulling the rope to open the door)

C had a field trip to his middle school next year, and says they sell stress balls for 50¢. He wants to bring $20 on the first day of class.
Me: And what are you going to do with 40 stress balls?
C: I dunno.  Maybe build a bean bag.

(6/4) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys. When I saw the school's number come up on my phone, I cringed, but they were just calling to say what a GOOD day D was having.  Hooray!  That's a call I will take any day! C got to go check out his middle school today with his class.  He has his route all planned out, and is ready to go.  I don't know that *I'M* ready for him to be in 6th grade!

(6/5) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys. The boys and I hit the park this afternoon, and I walked in circles while they played.

(6/6) I worked in D's class this morning.  He was being observed today, so we can start formulating a plan for next year.  I managed to coax him through three assignments, and then he got some computer time. I didn't have to spend all day there today, which was a nice break!  I went home and had a few quiet hours to myself.  It was great!

(6/7) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the boys. We had a very low-key evening tonight, and hung out and watched TV together after the boys came in from playing at the park.

(6/8) Work day for me, and day off for Dad.  The boys had an early release today.  Dad took them to lunch, and then later made fudge with them when it turned out we didn't have the supplies for cookie baking as planned.

(6/9) Sarah and I walked to/from Zumba this morning, and Dad made Dutch babies with the boys.  After breakfast, I went to Home Depot to pick up more rock to finish the back yard.  I like how it came out!  When I came home, the boys were gone.  They had gone off to a u-pick farm and brought home a bunch of strawberries.  Dad made up some fresh strawberry milkshakes as a treat.  They were delish! C spent the night with a friend, and once the littles were down, we had a quiet night to ourselves.

(6/10) The twins really wanted to swim at the lake today, and when we left our house, it was sunny, though not particularly warm (60°F).  I used their towels as blankets while they swam, and we high-tailed it on home when dark clouds threatened.  I made the kiddos hot chocolate while it hailed and poured this afternoon. Yay for all four seasons in a day?  C returned this afternoon, and we went to see Les Misérables at the Paramount tonight. I'd never seen it, and it was amazing!!

(6/11) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys.  Today was their field day.  I guess D decided not to participate because he wanted to be out there with C, but the other two had fun. I snuck out for a Zumba class this evening while the guys had dinner.

(6/12) Work day for Dad & me today.  D's streak of staying in school came to an end today, and he had to be picked up early.  This evening was even more of a disaster. Definitely not my finest hours as a parent. Tomorrow is a new day though.

(6/13) I spent the day with D today in class. We did Father's Day art, which was all kinds of adorable.  D had an up and down day, but we made it through.  Four more days left.  We can do it!  D and C both had appointments this afternoon.  By the time we got home, I was done peopleing, and hid in the garage with my book.

(6/14) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the boys.
