(3/1) After 15 days in the hospital, Nanan was discharged to a care facility while she finishes up her meds. She sure was excited to get out of there! C and I got her settled in and spent the afternoon working up at her house.
(3/2) I worked from home today, Dad worked at work, and the boys had school. I visited Nanan this afternoon. She was moved to a private room, which is a much better fit.
(3/3) We all had work and school today. I worked from home so I was able to visit Nanan during lunch. She's really over being there and would like to go home.
(3/4) I had the day off today. J had an appointment this morning so I let him sleep in and took D to the coffee stand on our way to school. He got a giant frosted cookie and I sent him off to class all sugared up.
(3/5) We all had work and school today. I had J's riser meeting and met half of the team at his high school. Time flies! I had a meeting with Nanan's care team this afternoon and they're looking at discharge next week.
(3/6) I worked from home, the boys had school, and Dad was off today. We took Red Robin over to visit Nanan this afternoon. It was a tasty alternative to hospital food!
(3/7) I was joined on my visit to Nanan today by a long-time friend of the fam. It was so good to see her and Nanan definitely perked up for the visit! I worked up at Nanan's house this afternoon and everything was a comedy of errors. I had two objectives: drain the waterbed and clean the bathroom. I hooked up the drain kit to the bathroom sink and it promptly flooded out the drain, making a daunting job even bigger. And then to cap things off, the dryer wouldn't start. Because of course.
(3/8) C and I visited Nanan this morning before he headed off to work. I went up to her house and did some more work, trying to get as much done as possible before she comes home next week. Thankfully everything went relatively smoothly today and I got a lot done!
(3/9) I worked from home today. I must have not gotten enough of cleaning because I couldn't stand the scene in D's room when I poked my head in. Poor kid was not prepared for it to be so clean when he got home and was not pleased.
(3/10) I worked from home today, but popped over to the school to meet the twins to register them for high school. It went about as well as expected. D walked out when he found out he had to do both PE and learn a foreign language (horrors!), and J has a side hustle all planned to run out of house. The day blew up from there. D was invited to not be at school for several days (as my coworker would say) and the fridge up at Nanan's went out. Thankfully the latter was remedied, but ermahgerd.
(3/11) We took C & F grocery shopping to stock them up because C has officially moved into Nanan's house. We then hit the appliance store and looked at various options. Our salesman was amazing and took D through the entire store and showed him all the bells and whistles on everything. A lot of appliances up at Nanan's needed to be replaced, so we bit the bullet and took care of that. The kids have been lonely without a furry friend so our next trip was up to NOAH to check out the kitties. They fell in love with two adorable kittens. It will be a minute before they're big enough to be out in the whole house, but welcome Lemon & Lime!
(3/12) Dad and I had work today, D was off from school, and I ended up calling out J for a mental health day. C was feeling awful so called out of work and went to the walk-in. He ended up with a second appointment in town, so he popped by the house and we went together.
(3/13) Oh look, it's Friday the 13th again! This time Nanan got to go home! It's been a long month of hospitals and we're ready to put this behind us. We grabbed D & J on our way and met C and F up at her house. I was unable to stay too long, but will return tomorrow to see how the first night went.
(3/14) Happy Pi(e) Day! I brought a pie up to Nanan's to celebrate. C & I got her old waterbed out and made progress getting her room sorted. D had stayed over and had a great time playing with the kittens. Poor dude was all stuffed up though and was more than ready to go home by the time afternoon rolled around.
(3/15) Today was a lazy day. Dad and I had the day off. He went through a lot of old pictures from Nanan's house and scanned a bunch of gems. I went through a few big tubs of paperwork, and then put on my shows and tuned out the world.
(3/16) I took the day off today and met a plumber up at Nanan's to repair three sinks and a toilet. While the plumber worked, C & I tackled her room. The plumber was only able to complete half the job because we were unable to find the water shut-off for the house, so we'll have 811 out and reconvene later in the week. It worked out since Nanan had a doctor's appointment this afternoon, and then we all went out for dinner.
(3/17) Happy St. Paddy's! I worked in the office and Dad wrangled the kiddos today. He made shepherd's pie for dinner and the boys raided the soda bread. My very sweet parents sent me this beautiful bouquet:
(3/18) Dad and the boys had work and school today and I had the day off. I had things to do, but the pooches objected and said no to things.
(3/19) We all had work and school today. I worked from home until it was time to take J to his appointment. It was free cone day at DQ, which is J's fave post-appointment spot, so we sat in a long line, but hey, I got ice cream out of it!
(3/20) It was a work and school day for all of us. I drove up and worked from Nanan's while the plumber was over to finish up the job. I finished cleaning her room and it's ready to put in a new bed.
(3/21) We had some new appliances delivered up at Nanan's and I put together a new adjustable bed for her. We went for lunch after everything was installed and sat outside to enjoy the sunshine.
(3/22) Dad and I had the day off together. We went and looked at other people's crap (aka antiquing) and then went to lunch at Scuttlebutt. We had a lazy afternoon at home and caught up on our shows.
(3/23) I worked in the office today and was pleased to see I didn't miss the cherry blossoms! So pretty! Dad had the day off and the boys had school. C & F popped by this evening and petted all the puppies. It was good to see them!
(3/24) I worked in the office, Dad worked at work, and the boys had school. It was Meeting Tuesday and I had lots of things to do today. But hey, also because it was Tuesday, it was pizza night!
(3/25) Dad and I had the day off today. We made it an hour before getting a call from the school. Oh my dear, darling children... We came home and then I worked in the yard for a bit to regain my Zen. I had riser meetings for both kiddos this afternoon with the the whole team this time. That they're going into high school is wild. How did that happen?
(3/26) Dad and I had work and J had school today. D has no tech so he got stuck watching TV with me this evening. We ended up watching The Goat, which was properly terrible, but D seemed to enjoy it.
(3/27) I worked from home, Dad worked at work, and J was at school today. D kept popping in to chat. He's been so bored. Hopefully next week will be better and we'll switch a few things up to see if that helps.
(3/28) Sarah and I went for a coffee walk this morning before meeting up again to go to the No Kings protest. We sat in the sunshine and soaked up the feel of being in community. It was a good sized crowd out there today (hearing around 6,500-7k)! Lots of honks and waves.
(3/29) Dad and I ran up to visit C & Nanan this morning and to drop off her newly detailed car. Unfortunately the smell re-emerged and the real cause of the odor was revealed: a mouse nest in the cabin filter. Blech!! Dad and I got to stop for a second lunch together this month and then we popped by Bertelsen Winery, which we'd been wanting to try forever. What a cute place!
(3/30) I worked in the office and Dad took the boys to school today. To ward off the disappointment of having their pizza party bumped to tomorrow at school, Dad struck a bargain that we'd have our own pizza party if today went well, and hooray, it did!
(3/31) It was a work and school day for all of us. It was a relatively light Meeting Tuesday and I was even able to run home and meet the boys when they got off from school to assure a less stressful end to the day.
