(5/1) May Day ~ I had taken today off as part of project stay the heck home. J was also home with a cold but Dad & D made it out into the world today for work and school. C & F stopped by this afternoon. They are the proud owners of seven lil chicks! They're so cute!
(5/2) Derby day! I went up to Nanan's and took everybody grocery shopping before the race. And what a race it was! Golden Tempo came from the absolute back to win! I got to see the lil peepers in their new digs up at Nanan's and spent some time hanging out with the kids.
(5/3) I am replacing our flower boxes that have rotted out back. It was going to hit 80°F so I got started early. It was quite a project since I had to dig out the old boxes, weed, and then install the new ones. I have two more to go (five in total), but they can wait! Shew! The boys and I went for Slurpees to cool off.
(5/4) May the fourth be with youuu! I worked from home today since J had an appointment this morning. It was probably a good thing since my back was barking at me over yesterday's activities.
(5/5) My work peeps put together a Cinco de Mayo potluck this afternoon. The office smelled so good all day and the vibe was upbeat and festive.
(5/6) I had a dentist appointment this morning. My stupid back was still killing me, so I spent a lot of time with a heating pad and moving slow. Definitely not my favorite way to spend a day off.
(5/7) I sure know how to pack a day and a half in a 24-hour period. I had to work, made a quick trip up to Nanan's to get the windows measured, took the twins to their dental appointments, and followed it all with J's weekly appointment. I thought I'd take them out for dinner for getting through all that but they fought about where we were going, what they were getting, whether we'd eat there or at home, why they even had to go in the first place, how everything super sucked, etc. By the time I got home I was so annoyed that I put my headphones on and ignored them both.
Zoom in to find the border collie in the picture below.
(5/8) We have changed the twins' schedule so that they can leave school if they complete their work by the end of third period. D has been staying through fourth since he is a TA and really enjoys it, but both boys have been home early all week! YAY!
(5/9) Merr. One of the flower beds I ordered is missing parts and is the wrong shade. I got it sent back and then came home, weeded, and prepped the two remaining beds for when the replacement appears. It kept starting to rain and just as I would get stuff cleaned up, it would stop and I'd try to do a little more, only to get rained on again.
(5/10) Happy Mother's Day! I had a really lovely day. C & I took Nanan out to buy plants for her porch planters and had lunch together. Dad spoiled me with a gift card to my favorite plant place and I am looking forward to going shopping!
(5/11) I tried to work up at Nanan's while the siding crew was out to work on her house, except they never showed, and then the internet went out and never came back on. I need the internet to do my job, so I went back to the land of wi-fi and worked from home for the rest of the day. The siding crew showed up at 4p, only eight hours late, and wanted to get started. Thankfully C was there and told them to come back on Friday to try again.
(5/12) I worked in the office today and had a meeting-full Tuesday. We knocked out some shopping for our party later this month and are in good shape planning-wise.
(5/13) Dad has been teasing me about driving around a bag of Goodwill items for months now and decided today was the day it was finally going away. Since it was Wednesday, we got everybody's orders and Dad made the bag disappear. C had a doctor's appointment and I took him out for his Weds pick just like old times.
(5/14) I had a meeting that I couldn't miss so Dad went up to Nanan's to meet the cable tech for me. Within minutes he had solved the internet woes and headed back home. He came across this pretty lady on his way out:
(5/15) I worked up at Nanan's today while the crew was out installing new siding. They actually appeared this time, so that was a plus. The minus was that that the left all the old siding. But it turned out beautifully, so we're ignoring the mess for the moment!
(5/16) I finished putting together and cleaning out the last flower bed and am pleased at how it all looks! I garden by survival of the fittest and have everything from foxglove to bee balm to tulips all in the same bed. The tulips are done and the Black-eyed Susans, lilies, and columbine are all coming in. Let's just hope I didn't take out my back again.
(5/17) Nanan wasn't feeling so well so I took her to urgent care. After a marathon appointment we have some answers and hope she will be as good as new in a few days. C & F did a u-ey as soon as they heard we were at Ixtapa and joined us for lunch.
(5/18) I worked in the building today and Dad was off with the kiddos. It's so quiet at work on Mondays, so I usually put on a podcast and knock out the administrative stuff.
(5/19) I worked in the office again and Dad had the day off. The twins were in & out of school lickity-split and were home before I even got the warning to Dad that they were on their way.
(5/20) I dropped off old-man Cass for his dental and headed to Nanan's to meet the crew picking up the old siding. I also ran her shopping for necessities (coffee!!) and then headed back home to take the boys for their Wednesday haul. Cass did well and was able to do a slow-moving squirrel patrol this evening.
(5/21) I worked from home and Dad worked at work. Noodle has been hell-bent on going into the flower beds to check out what I've been doing. I have a fence stretched across the beds and the little weasel slipped in through the side. Fortunately, he wasn't in there long and didn't think get into the beds now that they're a little taller and didn't trample anything this time. I hollered at him through the window, and the stinker had such a smug look on his face.
(5/22) TGIF! Man, it's been a week. I worked from home and Dad worked at work today. I took my podcasts outside this evening and weeded the thyme bed until I started to get cold.
(5/23) I attended a celebration of life for the mom of a coworker of mine. It was good to be with my work peeps and share stories. She was such a character! Several of us work peeps gathered afterward to share some wine, and I was out far past my bedtime. But it was fun!
(5/24) D and I met C to grocery shop and found Noodle a loofa dog that's almost as big as him! Noodle loves it! D went home with C and spent the night. He got to play with the kitties and have his favorite foods: steak and Annie's shells.
(5/25) Memorial Day. J and I had a quiet day at home. D and C had fun making soda syrups and brought us home some samples. The twins immediately started bickering when he came home and I asked C if he missed us. Ha.
(5/26) My work threw a welcome party for our new CEO today. I think she's going to fit right in with our crew! I took zero photos, but will just say we sure do know how to host a party!
(5/27) Dad and I had the day off, and the boys are finishing up their standardized testing so were home extra early. We went to WinCo but there was so much fighting that it was anything but a fun run. I dropped them off and headed to Nanan's for the afternoon and had me a peaceful drive.
(5/28) I worked from home today and Dad worked at work. It was so hot this afternoon that we required a Slurpee run. And it'll be back to mid 50s and raining tomorrow. Wee!
(5/29) I worked from home and Dad worked at work. The boys heard me joking that they'd probably be home by 9:30a and I wasn't far off. Must be nice!
(5/30) Dad and I had the opportunity to have a date day! We went mini golfing and then meandered over to Woodinville for a wine tasting, followed by lunch. It was a moody-weather day, but by the end the sun was shining, and it turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon.
(5/31) I went up to visit Nanan and C & F made us a fancy breakfast. I brought some flowers and played in the dirt while the kids cooked. I hung out for a few hours and then headed on home around dinnertime to tackle all the Sunday things.
