October 1st-7th

(10/1) I'm on vacation this week - hooray!  D is stuck on saying good-bye to C and has been saying, "Hurry-hurry-hurry!  Bye DoDo!" since C left for school. We had a very chill day, and I did lots of baking. I roasted some squash and made up a new casserole recipe.  J was an eating machine and ate and ate and ate.  I discovered that he loves pomegranate, which I normally don't buy, but which happened to be in our box this week. I guess I'll have to order more.

(10/2)  We met Sarah for toddler story time at the library after C went to school.  The twins run amok while the story is read, and I snag the boys as they run by to dance with them, or try to get them interested in the book.  They really love playing with the toys at the end and were fascinated with the bubble machine.  Unfortunately story time is at the same time that I will be volunteering in C's class room, but I'll try to take them when I can.

(10/3) I took the twins to story time again this morning to give Dad some work time at home.  It was at the smaller library, and the room was packed with 25 toddlers again. Whew!  So I'm the only one with twins there, and usually I interact with one, while the other is running around the room turning on the stereo, turning off the lights, etc. I hope the librarian doesn't mind too much.

After story time, I ran the Zoe-pup home to Nanan's and left the twinsies with their dad to nap.  I visited with Nanan for a bit and then I came home.  Plans for the evening fell apart, so I arranged to walk to the park with Sarah and co. We had a really nice afternoon!  After the park, we headed home for a spaghetti dinner and then it was bedtime.

(10/4) I went to go see a doctor about my foot this morning and was told to stay off it, and to avoid stairs and hills.  We'll just have to see how this goes.  C had a short day at school, since it was the start of Learning Improvement Fridays, so I attempted to nap the twins early so they wouldn't be too upset when I had to wake them to go get C.  Success! I got home, gave the kiddos snack, and then Grandma & Granddad came to watch the twins so C & I could go see Pippi Longstocking at the Seattle Children's Theatre.  My folks took me as a kid, and now C gets to go with the same friends that are now taking their grandchildren to see the plays.  So fun!  Nanan wasn't able to go this month since she is still recovering from hip surgery, and I was more than happy to take her place.  Grandma & Granddad said the twins did great ~ they're saying lots of new words and were generally full of their silly selves.

(10/5) Busy day today. We had hockey in the AM and epic naps in the PM. I took the stroller to hockey this time, and let the twins run around some during practice, and then walked them around doing donuts in the corner of the rink.  The boys loved that!  They slept so late at nap, that I went to grab pizza for dinner.  I put them to bed at the normal time, but D was up for another two hours talking and blowing raspberries.  That probably means we're in for an early morning, since it always seems to work that way.

(10/6) Today we packed the whole crew up and went to the animal shelter to meet Moose, a 6 year old Newfie mix.  The twins ran around collecting balls, dumping water dishes, yelling, and pretty much ignoring him completely. Perfect!  We brought him home, and have pulled D off of him about 999,999 times at least.  D thinks Moose is the best place ever to go NIGH-NIGH!  Thankfully, Moose has not been phased by any of this and seems to be a very solid dog.  He and Shrek are currently sacked out about 10' from each other.  It's been a good day.

D keeps getting whacked by Moose's tail, and yells,"SHREK, NO!" - Poor Shrek gets blamed for everything.  D learned how to say Moose, but isn't quite sure to whom it applies to yet.

(10/7) End of vacation & back to work with me. Dad has the boys.

Hugs!
