Fall Adventures

D: What does exist mean?
Me: To be.
D: So it's real?
Me: Yeah, like dinosaurs don't exist anymore, but they used to.
D: So nothing doesn't exist because it's not real.
Me: Right.
D: And Mom, thanks for giving me the last cinnamon raisin bagel!
Me: You're welcome. You only ate like half of it.
J: The half exists a'cuz it's real.

D: Mom, you definitely don't want to distract the driver!
Me: Right.
D: Mom, look! There's a reflection above your head! Look!!
Me: I can't, D, I'm driving.

D: It actually feels like the moon out there because it's so freezing!

C: WHY did you do that?
D: Because I'm Denton.

J: Uhm, Mom? *pause*
Me: *motioning for him to continue*
Dad: Are you going to finish that thought, J?
J: What, Mom?

J: They need to cut that tree down!
D: No, J, they need to use that saw that goes RRrrrrRRRR!
Me: A chainsaw? *laughs*
D: Yeah!

D: Daaad! I can't find any socks that I like!
Dad: Just find any socks.

D: The M&Ms are the relaxing part.

(9/12) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys.  Nanan picked up the boys for us, and then joined us for dinner.  Tuesdays are always pretty hectic around here, and it will take a while to settle into our new normal.

(9/13) Day off for me, and I loved it.  I walked the boys to school, walked to coffee, walked home, and then hit the gym. I picked the boys up a little early from school for an appointment for C.  I came prepared with snacks and drinks.  J inhaled his drink, and thus needed to go potty a half dozen times.  We sped home for a pit stop because he definitely couldn't make it to the arena, and met up with Dad. We decided to all go to the arena and get the twins outfitted for hockey.  Alas, it wasn't open this evening, so we wandered back home.  Harrumph.

(9/14) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and school for the boys.  The boys are already asking if they have to go to school again, lol.  Yeah, sorry, it's gonna be a few more years kiddos.

(9/15) Work day for me, day off for Dad, and the boys had school.  Today my office was the Krukenberg Botanical Garden, where we volunteered with the United Way's Day of Caring.  We pulled weeds, spread wood chips, and helped expand the Children's Discovery Garden.  It was really fun, and the owners were impressed with our efficiency!   It was a beautiful day to get outside and do something different!

(9/16) Dad took the boys to get their hockey gear this morning, and I hit Zumba. We went up to Jake & Amber's house tonight so the cousins could have a sleepover.  There was absolutely no sleeping happening until past 10pm, when we finally ended up separating the kids.  C played video games until the TV shut him off at 1am. He's gonna be fun tomorrow!

(9/17) Of course my kids would wake up at normal bright and early time when they were up hours past their bedtime.  Merrrrr.  Jake ran and got us all coffee while Amber fixed up a delicious breakfast.  We wandered home, and I may have parked the boys in front of the TV and caught another hour of sleep.  Sarah came over and exchanged me a Jordan for a J and took him swimming, while I stayed home with the Nerf war.

(9/18) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys.  Dad took the boys with him to hockey, so I could attend curriculum night for the boys.  The kindergartens did theirs together, so I attended that session, and then one for C.  It's going to be a fun year!  I signed up to volunteer in their classrooms, and to attend field trips.  I'll probably start that next month, once the kiddos have had a chance to settle in.  Dad took the boys in for new coats tonight, since everybody was due.  The twins got new coats with matching beanies, and C got a new one that will be perfect for snowboarding season!

(9/19) Work day for Dad & me, and school for the boys. The boys all wore their new coats today, and C was even rummaging in the closet for his gloves.  It's not that cold!  LOL!  Nanan picked up the boys this evening, and joined us for dinner. It's been lovely having her here on Tuesdays!

(9/20) Day off for me, school for the boys, and work day for Dad.  I walked the boys to school and then came home and took an hour to catch up on American Horror Story.  I then headed out to run a few errands, including getting my passport.  Woohoo!  Hope to put it use soon!  I picked the boys up from school, and fed them an early dinner, which C promptly revisited.  I'm thinking he's not a fan of pot roast.  He was right as rain shortly after we decided not to take him to hockey.  Goober.

(9/21) Work day for me, school for the boys, and day off for Dad. He made some baked rigatoni tonight, and the boys and I headed off to Zumba stuffed to the gills.  But it was so good!

(9/22) Work day for me, school for the boys, and day off for Dad again today.  He made some fantastic baked cod this evening for dinner. D showed me where my dinner was, opened the microwave, and then told me all about his day while I ate.  He seems to really be liking school!

(9/23) Adventure day!  We took a drive out US-2 and had lunch at Zeke's.  Then we headed out by Money Creek, and Miller River, and a couple of spots along the way.  We then hit Deception Falls for a quick hike and more photo opportunities.  We went to the Silvertips' home opener tonight and they put on a poor performance. We decided on season tickets this year, so got to watch them play badly from some pretty nice seats.

(9/24) Lazy start for most of us today.  Dad is working, but the rest of us are bumming around the house until it's game time again.  Hoping for a HUGE improvement over last night.
