August 27th-September 2nd

(8/27) Work day for Dad & me.  Sounds like everyone had a really good day.  C played Skylanders after we got home and I made dinner.  Lots of language popping up from the twins. I love this age!  Okay-okay, I know I say that about nearly all the stages.  But it's true!

(8/28) Today we hit the fair!  Nanan pushed the littles through the horse barns (lots of memories of my 4-H days) and I took C on a few rides.  He rode the roller coaster, the Scrambler, and did the bumper cars.  So fun! We indulged in some fair food - a scone and an elephant ear.  We wandered around until the twins zonked out and then headed home.  C went home with Nanan tonight for a few days. There was much drama with J's pacifier tonight, as I wrote in the last update, so I won't rehash.

(8/29) Dad had the little guys today, and I went hunting for a suitable blue pacifier for J during my lunch break.  I found a couple that I hoped would do.  J tried the lighter blue one and immediately discarded it, and then he tried the darker, translucent blue one and that seemed to fit the bill.  Thank goodness!  Dad and I had a nice evening after the twins went to sleep.  We attempted to watch a movie and I got about halfway through it before I turned in.  I just get up too early for late nights anymore.

(8/30) Short work day for me!  I went in late and got out early.   Dad took the littles to Kathy's and she had them through nap.  Once I got them home, we bummed around, played some trains, watched a little Sprout, took a bath, and had dinner.  I watched a little crap TV before turning it off and getting engrossed in a book.  Wild Friday night for sure.

(8/31) Today I went out for a run before the boys woke up.  On the agenda today was a trip up to the park to meet Nanan & pick up C. The littles didn't make it to the park before zonking out, but once C climbed in and we had picked up Nanan, that activity was enough to rouse them.  We played at the park until everyone was hot and tired.  I brought them all home for lunch and a nap.  C tried to convince me he could eat an entire shrimp burrito from one of our favorite haunts... but the thing is about as big as his head, so I forced him to share.  The littles picked out all the shrimp and ate the rest of their half and C got about a forth of the way into the burrito before crying uncle.  We had a low-key evening and watched a little TV. It's good to have the big boy home!

(9/1)  Dad stained the deck today and I hauled the kids to the park so he could work without any helpers.  Dad met us for a picnic after he finished.   After lunch, C and Dad shot a few hoops and we played until D insisted it was nigh-nigh time and I packed them back down the hill, with C & Dad following in the car a while later.  My aunt, uncle, and cousin were in town today, so the kids and I headed over to Granddad's for dinner.  The kids got out all the toys, and J started wandering around the yard with his basket looking under the bushes.  C figured out he was looking for Easter eggs. So begins a new tradition: the Labor Day hunt!  It kept them all busy for hours.  Both littles consumed their weight in juice and fruits tonight and had the most impressive diapers and ending the hunt so we could pause to clean up.  Ew.

(9/2) Happy Labor Day!  Dad & I had today off work.  Dad ferried the kiddos over to Grandma & Granddad's for the morning while I ran and then we both met for lunch and a beer with friends.  Grandma & Granddad managed to cram a lot in a few hours - they made cookies (the boys did quality control on the batter), went to the park, and had lunch.  I brought spoiled kiddos home for nap after they had finished eating.  When they woke up, we bummed around for the afternoon, had a light dinner, and watched Despicable Me.  J always says "uh-oh" when the FBI warning comes on.
