July 30th-August 5th

(7/30) I'm on vacation this week, and am so looking forward to hanging out with the kiddos, and doing a whole lot of nothing.  We went up to Nanan's to fetch C this afternoon.  Little stinker wasn't that thrilled to be coming back, so there was lots of attitude on the way home.  I asked him to help D get a drink, and instead he poured it down D's front, decided D had had enough, and refused to help any more.  So then D screamed the whole way home.  Yay!

(7/31)  I braved the Children's Museum with the boys today and I came back with all three of them.  Woo!  The little boys loved the tree-house and stacked all the books from the shelves on the benches.  They also liked the animal room, and J took his temperature a bunch of times, and carried around all the tools.  D put the blankets in the crates, and kicked the animals out.  After the museum, we came home for naps and then later dinner.  C complained allll day today.  That we *had* to go to the museum before screen time, that August was so far away (because that's when he can get a new Skylander), that dinner was disgusting (and then proceeded to have two helpings).  I'm trying to enjoy the twins not talking as much while it still lasts.

(8/1) Happy Birthday to me!  I went up and had breakfast with my mom, niece, and brother while the boys stayed at home with their dad.  After breakfast, we went shopping, and then my niece came home with me to play with C until dinnertime, and then we all went out for sushi.  I am so impressed with J - they only had one highchair at the restaurant, so he just sat between us and was so good.  He hardly made a mess either, which is tricky with rice, yakisoba, and sushi!

We all went out for ice cream, and we split a sundae after.  The littles LOVED it and kept dipping their spoons in.  They were so sugared up afterward though that they were absolutely flying.  Whoops.

(8/2)  Today we went over to play at Sarah's and stayed through lunch.  We came home for naps and I brought Jordan back to play with C, and then Sarah said she'd come get them both to take them to the Lego store.  So the big boys played hard and were mostly quiet until they decided that riding the kickboard down the stairs was a good idea, and were yelling and laughing so hard that they eventually woke up the littles.  The littles managed a decent nap and were happy campers when they got up, so it all worked out.  After the bigguns left, we played and had a relaxing evening.

(8/3) Fun day today!  Dad watched the kiddos in the morning while I was out running, and once I was done and had cleaned up, we piled in the car and went to Grandma & Granddad's.  We put the kiddos in strollers and wandered down to the waterfront to check out the Arts Festival.  We checked out the booths, stopped at the playground, and then threw some rocks in the Sound.  D started signing 'all done,' so we strapped them back in the stroller and hiked back home.  The boys caught a cat nap on the way back up, but that maybe lasted all of 15 minutes.  Once back, they played in the sprinkler and got into everything like usual.

(8/4)  We got up early--before all the boys--to make breakfast, since I was running off to have coffee with a friend.  I woke up some sleepy/grumpy kids once it was ready.  I couldn't do anything right for J today--he was mad when I wrapped up his breakfast burrito, he was mad when I unwrapped it.  He was mad when D got part of C's leftovers, and he was mad when I split the leftovers in two so he could have some.  Methinks I should have let him sleep longer!  Anyway, after coffee I came home to boys that were getting ready for lunch.  They ate, and then I put them down, and they took a long nap.

Once they got up, we headed over to Granddad and Grandma's for dinner.  We had a great time!  The littles amused themselves again by opening and closing the doors and hauling the spices all over the house.  Really, no toys are required with those two... they'll just get into everything!

(8/5) Back to work with me today & the boys are with their dad.  I am working this week and have next week off, save for Monday.  It's rough, I've gotta say.

  1. Hahah...enjoying them while they aren't talking much. I think summer is hard on kids sometimes, with the lack of schedule. Only one month left, though! He'll be a big first grader!

  2. Transitions have always been tough for him, and having a more fluid schedule this summer is really tough. He always has a great time when we get where we're going, but it's a battle to get there. <3 him, even when he's being a stinker!
